While there is no denying that Robert Pattinson is one of the most desirable men alive, it’s not hard to see why his dick has gotten so much attention. After all, this is a guy who is often found gracing the cover of magazines, whether it’s the UK’s Vogue or the Australian’s Rolling Stone. And it’s not hard to understand why. Standing at six feet four inches tall and packing an impressive seven inches of pure muscle, the 25-year-old British actor is certainly a sight to behold. Even more impressive is the fact that he’s maintained his good looks, earning him the nickname “The Vampire Lector”. Nowadays, he can be found strutting his stuff in Hollywood, appearing in such films as the upcoming Justin Bieber vehicle-cum-coming-of-age movie, Pattinson. While he’s certainly not your conventional Hollywood leading man, it would be a mistake to underestimate this Englishman. He’s certainly a force to be reckoned with.
The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly
So, what is it about this particular part of Robert Pattinson that makes him so appealing? First off, there’s the fact that he is a self-made man who grew up in extreme poverty in Scotland. His mother was an alcoholic who had considerable mental health problems and sometimes physically abused him and his brother. Thus, he found it hard to trust women, which probably explains the never-ending string of broken relationships that he’s endured. But while he may have had a rough start in life, now that he’s emerged into the mainstream through his acting, he’s found a sense of purpose and direction that had previously been lacking.
This is perhaps best exemplified by his character, Aaron, in the 2012 film, The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman. A successful and well-loved investment banker who has everything he could ever want, Aaron seems to have found peace and happiness. But there is a dark side to this newfound sense of purpose and direction. Like most men of his generation, Aaron has grown entirely reliant on prescription medication and alcohol to deal with his problems, which has resulted in him becoming increasingly isolated and withdrawn. When his life as he knows it begins to fall apart around him, he is forced to confront the ugliness of his addictions and how they’ve affected his life and relationships. It’s a film that explores the dark side of finding happiness, and it’s a very confronting portrayal of what can happen when you let your guard down and let life happen to you rather than you controlling it.
He Is A Bit Of A Jerk But Ultimately Sweet
There’s also the fact that while he’s extremely intelligent, clever, and has an incredible memory, Robert Pattinson can occasionally be found being rather immature and, at times, quite arrogant. In an interview with GQ, he said, “I always think that people who call me an asshole are just doing it because they’re jealous. I don’t really give a shit about what people think about me. I always think that being an asshole is just the coolest thing in the world.” While this may come as a bit of a shock, considering he’s one of the most recognized faces in Hollywood today, it’s probably not a big surprise that people are a bit afraid of him. But while you might expect this type of behavior from a celebrity, it’s not something usually associated with intellectual and artistic geniuses.
This combination of intelligence and social awkwardness can, at times, make him appear rather prickly and arrogant. But when you get to know him, you generally find that he’s a sweetheart. Even his harshest critics admit that he’s a pretty funny guy and, even when he’s not aware of it, he has a knack for making people smile. Consider the following exchange from an interview with Entertainment Tonight Australia:
“Have you ever been in a fight with a lamb?” he deadpans. Then he adds, “Have you heard the one about the cat and the dog? The joke is that it’s very difficult to pull the pants down over the cat’s head. You have to get all the dogs to help you.”
After his sister heard this, she reportedly said, “He is the funniest person I’ve ever met.”
So, while you might expect a self-made billionaire who is universally recognized as one of the most important men in Hollywood to be arrogant and self-centered, it would be a mistake to assume that Robert Pattinson is solely focused on his own interests. He’s, in fact, quite generous and, at times, quite humble. When asked about his proudest moment, he reportedly said, “It’s when I see women cry. I love it when I see a beautiful woman cry. It makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something.”
This seems quite a departure from the image that many have of a Hollywood prince. But while some might find it endearing that he’s such a sentimental guy who cares about things like women crying and dogs licking cats’ asses, it’s also quite a turn-off for others. Consider the following excerpt from an interview with The Guardian:
“[My girlfriend and I] went for a walk in the countryside… and I had to hold her hand all the time. It was the first time I’d ever done that. I felt very paternal. I felt like a dad holding his daughter’s hand,” he says with a laugh. “That’s attractive. It’s like, ‘Wow, I hope she grows up to be a very independent young woman.’ I hope she doesn’t mind being held by a big strong man – that’s my only concern.”
Clearly, there are aspects of Robert Pattinson that turn people on and off. But it’s important to remember that he’s a very complex character who has a fascinating background and, as his popularity shows, is certainly not easy to define. Even his sister said that he was, at times, “just such a contradiction: sweet and also very arrogant.” So while there is no denying that his celebrity makes him a target for ridicule and harassment, it’s important to recognize that this is a character that we’re likely to think and feel about quite a bit as the years go by.
