I’m going to go out on a limb here and make a bold assertion. Based on his body of work and continued success, Robert Pattinson seems like one of the most obvious choices to play James Bond. The British actor has managed to make an appearance in nearly every big-budget blockbuster released in the last few years, suggesting that he’s certainly got the acting chops to carry off the role. With Daniel Craig set to exit the series in the coming years, now seems like a good time to consider Robert Pattinson for the next James Bond.
What Is James Bond’s Story?
Like most popular film characters, James Bond has evolved over the years. His first appearance in the Bond films was in Dr. No in 1962. He has gone on to appear in more than 40 films, winning 22 oscars along the way. While many people may know James Bond from his many starring roles, his real-life story is surprisingly interesting. It began back in October 1939, when James Bond was born in London, England as Robert James Bond. He is the great-grandson of Queen Victoria and Duke of Kent. The British actor was raised in Kent and attended the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst. After graduating from the academy, he was commissioned as an infantry officer and served in the military for a few years. During World War II, Bond served in the British embassy in Washington, D.C., where he was involved in counter-espionage operations against the Axis. Although the series has never specifically stated his military career, it’s clear that James Bond has indeed served in the military and has been trained in espionage tactics. Most importantly, Bond’s parents were murdered when he was only a young boy, which put him in an orphanage and made him the guardian of his little sister, Paula. This tragic event made James Bond a man driven to protect others and to fight for what he believes in. It’s an interesting story for an interesting man.
Why Might Robert Pattinson Be A Good James Bond?
It probably goes without saying that Robert Pattinson is a good-looking man. As well-executed as the many romantic scenes in his films may be, they aren’t the only reason he would make a good James Bond. In fact, he may even be better suited for the part than many other actors, given his charm, good looks, and affability. Pattinson has proven over the years that he can play multiple characters with ease. While appearing in Water for Elephants, for example, he showed us a completely different side of his character. It was clear that he had a blast playing a circus performer, despite the fact that he’s usually playing a smart, dignified character. Besides, as previously stated, Bond is mostly known for his cool detachment and serious demeanor. While it’s important to maintain these qualities as the character continues to evolve, it’s not hard to imagine Pattinson bringing a more playful spirit to the role. In the next James Bond film, there’s a chance that we’ll see a more youthful Bond. The actor is already 33, which puts him a decade past the character’s usual casting age. What’s more, he’s already played Bond twice: in the 2013 film, Where Bond Goes, We Can Too; and in the short-lived TV series, Broadchurch. In the coming years, as the character continues to evolve, Bond could use some youthful exuberance, and Pattinson seems like the perfect choice to bring that to the role.
Can Robert Pattinson Play James Bond?
The answer to this question is both yes and no. While it’s possible that he could play the part, it’s not as though a name like Pattinson has never been associated with any other role. In truth, he’s already played the role of Hamlet, once; Macbeth, once; and King George, the King’s nephew, four times. In other words, it’s not as though he’s never played a Bond. At the same time, it’s quite possible that he could do a good job at portraying James Bond. After all, he’s got the looks; he’s got the charm; and he’s got the experience. What’s more, he’s also got some excellent recommendations from people who’ve worked with the character before, like Timothy Dalton, who originally recommended him for the role of James Bond. It appears that Robert Pattinson has what it takes to play James Bond, and fans of the character should certainly keep an eye out for him. He’s quite likely to make an appearance as Bond in one of the big-budget films due out within the next few years.
That doesn’t mean, however, that he’s the only actor that could play James Bond. For the sake of argument, let’s assume that he does play the part and that he does a good job at it. Even so, there are still plenty of other well-qualified actors who could take his place, including Tom Hardy, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Daniel Craig. Craig’s departure from the role doesn’t mean that there won’t be any more films with James Bond. While it’s true that no official statement has been made regarding future films, it’s quite possible that new negotiations could produce a new deal that provides for one or two more films. What’s more, there are already a few promising scripts that could be turned into great films. One such example is Skyfall, the 24th film in the series. The novel on which the movie is based is considered one of the best written in the series. It’s exciting to think that Skyfall may turn out to be the last James Bond film due to Daniel Craig’s retirement from acting. Not only that, but it could also be the best one yet!
The bottom line is this: based on his body of work and continued success, it’s not hard to see why Robert Pattinson might be a good choice to play James Bond. What’s more, it’s not as though he’s the only qualified actor. Based on his charm, good looks, and acting experience, it’s quite possible that Robert Pattinson could do a good job at portraying James Bond. At the same time, there are still plenty of other actors who could play the part (even Daniel Craig himself couldn’t play Bond every single year). For those reasons and more, fans of the character should certainly keep an eye out for him. He’s quite likely to make an appearance as Bond in one of the big-budget films due out within the next few years.
