Robert Pattinson is an English actor who rose to fame for his role in the young adult film The Favourite. Now 31, he has appeared in numerous films and TV shows, including the latest Bond film, No Time to Die, which is due for release in April 2022.

While he is best known for his acting career, Pattinson also studies journalism and is the co-founder of the sustainability advocacy group Just For Kids!

Early Life And Education

Pattinson was born and raised in London, England. He is the youngest of four children of Peter and Rosalind Pattinson. His father is a former head of the pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline, and Pattinson has a younger sister and two older brothers. He attended St Paul’s School in London and then went on to read English Literature at New College, Oxford.

When he was 15 years old, his high school drama teacher encouraged him to pursue acting. “I went from zero to hero in the space of a day, and I guess that’s the sort of impact you can have when you’re that age,” Pattinson said in an interview.

Having graduated from Oxford University, Pattinson began his acting career in 2013 when he was cast in the leading role of Edward Cullen in the Breaking Dawn – Part 2. The following year, he appeared in the romantic comedy The Adjustment Bureau. In late 2018, Pattinson was cast in the role of James Bond in the upcoming No Time to Die.

Pattinson’s film debut came in 2004 in the romantic comedy Four Weekends. Since then, he has appeared in a variety of films, including The Favourite, a dark comedy about Queen Elizabeth I of England (played by Rachel Weisz). In 2019, Pattinson starred in the romantic comedy Sober & Straight. He will next be seen in the drama film The Rocket, directed by Shawn Ledger. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal and R&B singer Natalie Avantiri. Shooting began in May 2022 in New York City and will be released in theaters in December 2022.

Personal Life

Pattinson is an animal advocate and passionate supporter of PETA. He has been a vegetarian since he was 12 years old, and he takes his activism one step further by encouraging others to go vegan. When he was younger, his family would often take him to meet animals in their natural habitat, which exposed him to the darker sides of animal abuse. This inspired him to start the Just for Kids! charity, which provides food, clothing, and veterinary care for unwanted dogs and cats in his home country of England.

While at film school, Pattinson fell in love with a fellow student, filming them kissing in the nude and posting the photos online. He then participated in an orgy with three other men, which was considered an act of radical honesty. The resulting scandal put an end to his studies and his budding career. Although he later went on to complete his education, the experience marked him. “I realised that you need to be true to yourself and not care what people think,” he said in an interview. Since then, he has not touched on his nude partying days and maintains that they were a mistake. “I wouldn’t do it again,” he added. “It was definitely a mistake.”

Apart from acting, Pattinson is also a passionate photographer. He has several celebrity friends who are also influencers and Instagrammers, and he uses their accounts to showcase his work. His favourite photographers include Steven Klein, Michael Reisz, and Mario Testino. In addition to his camera work, Pattinson is also a skilled film editor who cut his teeth on the documentary short Naked. Passionate about teaching others, he is often called upon by prominent brands to help publicise their products. In the past, he has worked with clients including Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, and Ralph Lauren.

In interviews, Pattinson has spoken openly about his troubled past, blaming his wild behaviour on his dyslexia and ADHD. The disorder is characterised by deficiencies in attention and processing speed, which can make it difficult for a person to function day-to-day. He has also spoken about his love of Dystopia novels and films, such as The Hunger Games and Brave New World. “I can identify with the oddities that society decides to pathologise,” he said. “And I think that’s something that all artists have in common. It’s not something that should define you, but it’s something that you have to acknowledge.”

Vegan Advocacy

Apart from being an advocate for animal rights, Pattinson is also a vegan. He often promotes veganism both on and off screen, and has collaborated with plant-based brands, such as ALBA, to create recipes that they can use in their advertising. He has also spoken about the influence of J. R. R.  Tolkien on The Lord of the Rings, as well as the novels The Hunger Games and The Dark Tower on his films. While studying in Oxford, he became aware of the connection between food waste and climate change. As a result, he decided to go vegan and encourage others to do the same. “I realised that it was just me and the environment versus the mass of animal consumption,” said Pattinson. “So I started the vegan school of thought. It’s a way of thinking that encourages you to go vegan and encourages others to go vegan.” He added: “I want to see a world where people realise the connection between what they are eating and the environment. It’s something that I care about deeply. I think we have the power to make a difference, as long as we are mindful of what is going on.”

Pattinson is so committed to veganism that he even wrote a cookbook, titled The Gardens of London, in which he shares his favourite recipes for those who follow his dietary regime. Although he does not require his fans to go vegan, he does ask that they consider the environment when choosing what foods to consume.

While most celebrities try to keep their personal lives private, in the case of Robert Pattinson, it’s the opposite. The media is always keen to uncover the secrets behind the famous faces, and they are particularly interested in uncovering the truth about Pattinson’s past. In early 2020, a video of an alleged orgy, which took place in Rome in 2014, surfaced on the internet. The clip shows a man, who appears to be Pattinson, alongside five women, three of whom are naked, as well as a man in a leather jacket. (The Daily Mail) In the wake of that scandal, Pattinson issued a public statement, saying: “While it was fun being part of an iconic band, being a rockstar was not what I was looking for. I have always wanted to be an actor. It was a shock to see my name in the headlines. I have never really done anything to put myself in that position. It is a sad state of affairs when your private life is public property. People are entitled to their own opinions, but I would like to keep my private life private. This is something that I hold very dear.”

It is clear that Robert Pattinson is not your typical Hollywood star. The media has a lot to say about the 31-year-old, and it often focuses on his off-screen persona. While he may choose not to engage with the media in order to protect his private life, it is clear that he is not your typical Hollywood star, which is reflected in his personal life and professional career.
