It’s been a very trying time for Robert Pattinson. After over a decade of marriage to Debora Lacek, the Hollywood couple has been through one of the most trying times of their lives. What started out as a fairy tale wedding day in 2008 has turned into one of the most interesting stories of 2019. In September 2019, news broke that Lacek had filed for divorce after months of intense pressure from the media and from their fans. They’ve since reconciled, but this is a very sad story indeed. Let’s take a look at how their divorce proceedings began and how they continue to this day.

The Divorce Process Begins

When news of the split first broke, there were rumors that it was because of Robert’s busy work schedule. While he does have a very successful acting career, he has also taken a backseat to filming a number of commercially-successful movie musicals. He recently finished filming Birds of Prey in which he co-stars alongside Daisy Ridley and Christina Hennessy. Additionally, he has two more movies set to be released in the coming months.

It seems like the actor has been on a bit of a film production kick as of late. In fact, his representatives have noted that he’s currently “wrapped up on a high profile project” and can’t comment on the rumors surrounding his marriage. While this may be true, his dedication to his craft is admirable and it’s clear that he’s passionate about what he does. When he is able to share details about his upcoming projects, he often does so via social media. In an Instagram post from February 2019, he noted that he’s “excited” about his upcoming role in The Batman and excited about “getting back in [his] Batman suit.” It seems as though he has been feeling a bit of a moral imperative to give back to the fans who’ve been so supportive of him over the years. This could explain why he has chosen to return to the big-budget world of blockbusters despite his newfound fame.

Why Does The Batman Matter So Much?

It’s a well-known fact that 2018 was the 80th anniversary of the Batman, and the demand for memorabilia and collectibles related to the Dark Knight has never been higher. To commemorate this momentous occasion, WB Television produced a special one-night-only 75th anniversary screening of the first Batman film. One of the biggest winners of the night was undoubtedly Batman and the movies that featured his legendary image. This included the 2018 Batman and the surprisingly warm reception that had audiences talking about the film immediately after it was over.

However, it seems like the hype is extending to other properties as well. Even non-adherents of the Dark Knight are aware of his influence and have taken inspiration from his gritty take on the superhero genre. This includes Matt Reeves’ The Batman. The director was so taken aback by the power of the Batman brand that he initially turned down the opportunity to make the movie. After some persuasion, Reeves agreed to take on the project. While filming, he was reportedly inspired by the director of 300, Kurt Russell, who is a big fan of the Batman. From the get-go, The Batman seemed determined to live up to the hype associated with the 80th anniversary celebration of the Dark Knight. This was made evident by the film’s marketing campaign. As the film’s synopsis explains, “As the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Batman continues, fans are reminded that this year’s cinematic release is more than just a movie…it represents a monumental moment in the history of both comics and Hollywood.”

What was once a Batman-only affair has now been extended to include other members of the Justice League. Warner Bros. and DC seem to have taken this opportunity to pay homage to some of the most popular characters in the DC universe. This includes Aquaman, who was the first member of the Justice League to appear in his solo movie. Now, thanks to the success of Birds of Prey, the spotlight has shifted to him. In many ways, it seems like Aquaman represents the coming-of-age of the modern superhero. He’s brimming with teenage angst and is determined to prove himself worthy of Arthur Curry’s trust. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Aquaman star Jason Momoa noted that this is the “first big-budget superhero movie” that he’s ever been a part of. It also seems like the character is inspired by real-life issues. In an interview with Vogue, Momoa shared, “I think people can relate to feeling like an underdog, feeling like you don’t fit in with the popular kids. You’re kind of the funny kid in the corner, making the others laugh. But then when you get punched in the face, you realize the joke was on you.” These issues are represented in a number of ways by Aquaman, who must prove himself to be worthy of a spot on the Justice League. Aquaman is not alone in feeling marginalized. In his solo film Green Lantern, which was released last year, Stephen Curry plays Vaunteed, a role that was later echoed by Black Adam in the comic book series of the same name. These characters feel as though they’ve stepped out of their own comic books and into the cinematic mainstream.

The Reuniting Of Robert And Debora

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the happy couple together, but after going through so much distress and pressure over the past few years, it seems like they’ve finally found their way back to each other. TMZ reported in September 2019 that the former couple had made up and were focused on moving forward. The news agency also noted that while they had been public about their disagreements in the past, they were determined to make their marriage work. It seems that after months apart, Robert has returned to Lacek and reunited with his wife for the first time in years. This was made evident by the fact that in September and October 2019, Robert and Debora were spotted together on numerous occasions, including a few red-carpet interviews. While it’s great to see the two of them back together and looking relaxed, it’s important to keep in mind what they’ve been through. They’ve been married for a few years, but have only had the opportunity to spend a short time together. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Lacek said, “I’m so happy that we’re able to have some time together. But we both know that this is a brief moment. We’re both aware that there are other things that need to be taken care of.”

It will be interesting to see how the two of them continue to adjust to life as a married couple. They’ve been through so much, and while they might be relieved that the divorce process is over, it will still be a struggle to rebuild their relationship. What will help them the most is continuing to be true to themselves and each other. They’ve been through a lot as a couple, and it seems as though they’re finally learning from their past mistakes and growing up together as a result. This is evident by the way they’re approaching their future as a couple and their plans to have children. In an interview with People, Lacek said, “Kids are such an important part of your life. It would be great to have them as part of our team.” It seems as though after a decade of being in the public eye, Robert has finally learned to be more private and to share less about his personal life. While this has been misinterpreted as him trying to protect his marriage, it’s actually just him being more mature. He’s come a long way since that infamous MTV documentary. It’s been a rough ride, but it seems like things are finally looking up for Robert and for his marriage. While this might be difficult to believe, given how tumultuous the last few years have been, it’s important to remember that love conquers all.
