In this regard, it would be remiss not to mention one of the country’s most beloved comedians and funny men, Robin William’s (b. 1946) stardom and legendary status. In 2020, Canada may not be the first place that comes to mind when thinking about comedy, but it should. After all, it was at a time like this that Robin Williams was at the peak of his career in Canada.

Mrs. Doubtfire (2017)
Mrs. Doubtfire is an American comedy-drama film directed by Gil Kenan and written by Richard Marsten. It is based on the 1992 stage play The Real McCoys by Richard Van Wagenen. The film stars Robin Williams, who plays the title character, a retired school teacher who disguises herself as a man so she can become the neighbor she was forbidden to become as a woman. The movie musical comedy was released by Warner Bros. Pictures on May 11, 2017, and went on to become one of the top-grossing films of the year, earning more than $400 million worldwide.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2019)
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is a comedy adventure film directed by Jake Kasdan and written by Jonathan Goldstein, Tony Liebling, and Hiram Garcia. It is based on the 1996 film of the same name, which is itself based on the 1995 book Jumanji by Alan Moore. The film stars Robin Williams, Dwayne Johnson, and Jack Black as the titular characters. The movie is set in an eponymous jungle where children play a game called Jumanji. When one of the characters dies, he or she returns as a ghost who can only speak through images and clues left by other characters on their phone. Peter Pan (2018)
Peter Pan is an upcoming American adventure film directed by Jake Kasdan and written by John Hough. It is based on the 1904 novel of the same name by J. M. Barrie. The film stars Evangeline Lilly as the titular Pan, who is looking for a way to grow up and settle down. Her search takes her to the land of Never Never, where she meets Captain Hook (Jason Isaacs) and Tinker Bell (Michelle Pfeiffer).
The cast also includes Robin Williams, who serves as a mentor to Eli Wallach’s Pan, and Keegan-Michael Key. Production on the film began in January 2020 and is scheduled to be released on May 15, 2021 by Walt Disney Pictures.
The Angry Birds Movie 2 (2020)
The Angry Birds Movie 2 is an upcoming 2020 American animated comedy film directed by Lee Unkrich and written by Jonathan Aibel, Kevin Plawas, and Chris Queen. It is the second installment of the Angry Birds Movie series and the eleventh film in the overall series. The film stars the voice of Steve Buscemi as Garnock, the leader of the Angry Birds. Other major cast members include Peter Dinklage, Morgan Freeman, and Uma Thurman. It is scheduled to be released on February 13, 2021 by Sony Pictures Animation.
Honeymoon is an upcoming American romantic comedy film directed by Jared Hess and written by Katie Dippold. It follows a newlywed couple’s road trip to North Carolina to begin a new life together. On the way, they stop at a cabin in the woods owned by the husband’s family. While there, the wife becomes entangled in a romantic plot with the owner of the cabin. The film stars Robin Williams and features an ensemble cast that includes Lily Collins, Jennifer Lawrence, Anna Kendrick, and Guy Pearce.
Lucy is an upcoming American comedy film directed by Luc Besson and written by Jonathan Lemkin. It is an adaption of Besson’s 2010 French comedy film, Lucy. The story follows a couple, Nick and Nora, who decide to have a baby through in vitro fertilization. Having done so, they try to navigate the minefield of parenthood, which is complicated by Nora’s obsessive-compulsive disorder. The film stars Robin Williams and Lucy Briggs-Jayne as the title characters and features a supporting cast that includes Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, and Melanie Griffith.
