There are several celebrity singers who graced the small stage at the Hollywood Bowl recently, each drawing large crowds and garnering glowing reviews. One of them was Robert Pattinson, who performed alongside the legendary Paul Simon. While it’s always an honor to perform in the legendary Hollywood Bowl, it’s quite an achievement for a singer to pull off a successful concert there. The Experience
The legendary Hollywood Bowl is a favorite of ours. The stadium is located in Los Angeles, surrounded by the beautiful orange and lemon trees that provide the city with its famous sunshine. The bowl is an outdoor amphitheater with a capacity of about 2000 people. It’s relatively small compared to other major Hollywood Bowls, like the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, which holds about 80,000 people. But this smaller size is what makes the Hollywood Bowl such a special place. It feels more intimate and, well, I hate to use the word, but it feels more “homesick”, if you will.
The Venue
There’s something so magical about the Hollywood Bowl. I mean, it’s right outside Hollywood, it’s got amazing acoustics, and it’s usually quite a cool night in Los Angeles, if not downright cold. While it would be a crime to miss Paul Simon’s concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, there are others that you just won’t believe. Like I said, it’s magical. Even if you’re not a big fan of his music, his presence will still give you a chill. It doesn’t hurt that the venue also serves as a filming location for many popular films. One of the most recent movies to be shot there is the Nicole Kidman-Robert Pattinson vehicle, Destroyer.
The Accommodation
If you’re attending a concert there, then you probably don’t need to worry about accommodation. The movie studios and the concert organizers will take care of you. When I checked in recently at the Hollywood Bowl, I was surprised to see how nice everything was. You get a bag with your name on it, and all your belongings will be transported to and from the venue for you. The good folks at the Hollywood Bowl also gave me some great advice on where to eat and what to do in Los Angeles, which I will share with you. It runs as follows: “If you’re not a movie star, then don’t expect to get into any movie studios unless you have a script that’s going to be made into a movie. Even if you do have a script, it’s probably not going to happen. Just keep trying, though.”
The Food And Drinks
While we’re on the subject of food and drinks, there are always a lot of food trucks at the Hollywood Bowl. Just check out the line for Paul Simon’s concerts and you’ll see what I mean. There are taco trucks, pizza trucks, dessert trucks, and even a Bar-B-Que truck. All of these trucks are outside the venue, and you can choose which one you want to go to depending on what you crave. For those who are more health-conscious, there are also vendors selling salads, organic fruit, and vegetables. Plus, you can get a paper bag at the end to carry all of this food to eat it onsite. If you’re really a fan of Paul Simon, then this is something you’ll definitely want to check out.
The People
It would be great to see a whole lot of people at every concert. But that’s probably not the way things work. You have to accept that not everyone will want to go to every concert you play, especially if they live far away. But that’s not the point. The point is to connect with your audience and make them feel like you’re speaking directly to them. It’s not always easy, but you can guarantee most of the stars out there will give it their all. Even if they don’t feel like they can pull off a concert of their own, they will try their best to help you.
