As we come up for air after four years of lockdown, it’s time to get back into our pre-pandemic lives — or as close as we can get. Many of us are trying to go back to the way things were before the pandemic, one key area being our looks. What was once the exclusive domain of hair and makeup is now on the agenda for everyone. What will our face career look like in 2021? How do I want to appear to the world?
There are those who say that fashion and beauty are connected, but I disagree. It’s a common misconception that you have to dress fashionable in order to look beautiful. Fashion and beauty are entirely separate entities and it’s important to realize that when you want to embody total chic, you don’t need to follow fashion trends but you need to work with your own style and stick to what you know and love.
The Basics
The most important thing to consider about your new look is the basics — what kind of clothes will you be wearing? What accessories will you be carrying? Where will you be going? Are you going to treat yourself or are you looking for an everyday appearance?
As we’ve established, fashion and beauty are not the same thing. Nevertheless, it’s important to note that both play an important part in the way you present yourself to the world. Your clothes will form the basis of your look and dictate how you appear. Remember that your accessories — such as hair waver, skin care products, and eyewear — will also affect the overall look of your ensemble. So, don’t hesitate to experiment with different combinations of clothes and accessories to achieve the best overall look.
Style Meets Function
In addition to your clothes, it’s also important to consider the functional aspect of your style. You see, not all fashionable clothes are good for you. It’s a common misconception that you wear fashionable clothes to look good. In fact, you look good when you wear clothes that compliment your body type and function. To put it simply, the clothes you wear should be good for you. This is often the reason why you see some women avoided wearing particular styles of clothing (like mini skirts and crop tops) due to the way this style of clothing interacts with the fabric of their dress.
Comfort
When we’re talking about fashion, most of us think about looks first and foremost, yet this is not necessarily the case. As mentioned before, comfort is an aspect that needs to be considered as well. It’s no secret that fashion and beauty can be demanding tasks, especially when you want to look good all the time. This is why many of us start to feel a little uncomfortable when we set out to change our looks. It’s all good and well to want to improve your appearance, but if it hurts you physically and emotionally, then this is not the right path to take.
Try to find that perfect complementary look that blends fashion and functionality while feeling relaxed and comfortable in your own skin. You’ll be happy you did.
