Once one of the most popular movie stars of his generation, England’s most eligible bachelor, Robert Pattinson, is now a popular cultural icon—and a symbol of the Hollywood dream that never fades.
The Twilight actor and musician is known for his charm and good looks, but it’s his unconventional lifestyle that’s really made him a global superstar. Now, at the age of 40, he’s embarking on a high-profile solo career. In the process, he is looking for a partner who is willing to be by his side for the rest of his life.
Who is this legendary bachelor looking for love? We spoke to Simon Huck, owner and Director of a renowned London matchmaking firm, about what the actor 2020 needs in his search for love.
The Bachelor Of His Generation
When it comes to finding love, it’s fair to say that Robert Pattinson doesn’t follow the typical rules. He’s never been particularly interested in relationships, as he’s previously confessed, and has spent much of his (lucky) life single. The handsome hunk has also spoken glowingly of his many famous exes, including Kirsty Wark, Kate Winslet, and more recently, Dakota Johnson.
Pattinson grew up in a rough neighborhood in London and was expelled from school at the age of 16. It was then that he began working as a stuntman and actor to save up enough money to travel to Thailand to study Buddhist meditation. After two years in the land of smiles, he returned to London and began training as a classical musician. However, his career in rock music never really took off, so he turned to acting, landing small roles in British thrillers. His big break came in 2010, with the release of Twilight, the saga that made him a worldwide superstar. For his work in the film, he was nominated for several awards, including a British Academy Film Award (BAFTA).
The success of Twilight made Robert Pattinson one of the most in-demand men in Hollywood. He was linked to the gorgeous Alicia Keys, but they never officially dated. Instead, the pair would go on to co-host the Netflix reality series Master of None, which followed the ups and downs of Dev (Pattinson), a character inspired by the comedian and actor Aziz Ansari. The show won numerous awards, including a Golden Globe and a SAG Award. In the past year, fans have seen Robert Pattinson on screens big and small, with or without his famous craggy beard.
No Regrets, But Lots Of Happy Endings
Since the end of his marriage to Johnson in 2019, Robert Pattinson has been focusing on his personal life. The actor has admitted to enjoying his time alone, and has said that he has no plans to remarry. He is also candid about the many breakups that have led to his current state of affairs, speaking with Vanity Fair in 2019 about his history of heartache:
“I’ve been through a lot of breakups, a lot of failed relationships,” he said. “It’s not like I’ve been deliberately avoiding them, it’s just that I’ve been really focused on myself, doing my own thing.”
When asked if any of his exes still get on his nerves, the 40-year-old replied: “I don’t really do relationships. I’ve been through a lot of them and they’ve all ended in tears at some point. So really, I’ve no complaints.”
Pattinson’s next project is Everbody Has Secrets, a real-life romantic comedy that will star Anne Hathaway. The film will be released in theaters in the US on March 12 and in UK cinemas on March 19. The Hollywood icon began a bisexual relationship with model-turned-actress Stella McCartney following his split from Johnson. Since then, he has been spotted partying with famous women’s designer Misha Nonoo and actress Naomi Campbell. He is also close friends with singer and songwriter Lady Gaga, with whom he shares a dance-pop fusion style. Last year, he was named the most influential figure in LGBT culture, and the second most influential figure in the entertainment industry, behind Meryl Streep.
A Modern Day Romeo
Although he’s never been one to follow the crowd, it seems that Robert Pattinson has finally found true love. The handsome hunk has been dating model-turned-actress Stella McCartney for two years and the pair were photographed holding hands on a beach in Ibiza in June 2022. It’s not clear exactly what led to the romantic moment, but the photo itself was enough to bring out the love in everyone. The following month, McCartney revealed that she and Robert Pattinson were thinking about getting engaged.
“We’ve been talking about it for a while, but there are still a lot of details to work out,” she said. “When the time is right, we’ll make the announcement. For now, we just want to enjoy this new found freedom and peace.” Fans and fellow movie stars have eagerly awaited news of the couple’s engagement. It was initially believed that the wedding would take place in the fall of 2021, but in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, that date has now been pushed back.
Robert Pattinson isn’t the only famous bachelor searching for love either. While we’re patiently waiting for news of McCartney and Pattinson’s engagement, keep an eye out for other famous bachelors, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, and Jackie Kennedy Jr., who are also searching for true love. As for whether any of these men will ever find the love of their life, we’ll have to wait and see.
