Many people (myself included) regard Robert Pattinson and Daniel Radcliffe as the best on-screen duo since Kirk and Spock. As school classmates who grew up together in England, Robert and Daniel share a unique bond and dynamic on-screen chemistry. Moreover, they have both been nominated for, and won, several award seasons running. While both have accomplished a great deal as actors, it’s not always been easy for them in life. Here, we’ll examine their backgrounds and outline their individual careers.

Early Life

Robert Pattinson was born on July 7, 1986 in London, England. He is the son of film producer Sandy Pattinson and actress Virginia Madsen. As a child, he was very interested in drawing and painting, which led him to drama school. He started acting professionally at the age of 12 after being discovered by a modeling agent. After graduating from high school, he initially moved to New York City to further his modeling career. While living in the United States, he continued to act, landing small parts in indie films and supporting roles on television. In 2007, he finally decided to move back to his home country and pursue a career in acting.

Career

Upon returning to the U.K., Robert Pattinson made his stage debut in 2008 in The Norman Conquests at the Royal Court Theatre. He then went on to star in various short films and several television series before landing the role of Jasper in the independent film Mortdecai. Since then, he’s appeared in major box-office successes like the Batman films, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. In 2014, he returned to the big screen in The Grand Tour, his first leading role in a major motion picture. As we’ve established, Robert Pattinson is exceptionally talented and established, yet still finds the time to give back to the community.

Personal Life

From a very young age, Robert Pattinson was focused on his career. He rarely gave much thought to his personal life (which is a good thing), and when he did, he turned to friends and family for support.

As previously mentioned, since 2009, Robert Pattinson has been dating actress (and niece of Sean Penn) Jennifer Lawrence. The couple became engaged in December 2014, and were finally married in an intimate ceremony in England in May 2016. Aside from his wife, Robert Pattinson is also currently in a committed relationship with American ballet dancer Camila Cymbali. They became romantically involved while filming The Hobbit in 2014 and began dating in early 2015. Since then, they’ve been inseparable and, on occasion, have been spotted vacationing in Europe with their dogs.

Awards And Nominations

Besides our resident duo of superheroes, Robert Pattinson and Daniel Radcliffe, we also have a host of other talented individuals who’ve been nominated for (and won) several awards for their performances on-screen. Some of the more prominent award shows the two have been nominated for, and won, include:

  • Golden Globe (Best Actor – Drama)
  • British Academy Film Awards (Best Actor)
  • Screen Actors Guild Awards (Best Actor – Drama)
  • Producers Guild of America Awards (Best Theatrical Motion Picture)

BFF

When you’re compared to a guy named after a breakfast food and a guy named after a fictional character who are both best friends, you’re bound to become best friends too. In 2011, Robert Pattinson and Daniel Radcliffe founded the Frendship of the Finest, a charitable organization that aims to “combat loneliness and isolation through social media.” The organization’s website states that “loneliness is one of the major issues that Frendship is passionate about. So much so that it has been instrumental in creating…” and then lists various ways the charity aims to address loneliness, including “helping others to find new friends” and “creating an environment where people feel comfortable enough to share their experiences and feelings.”

Oscar Nomination

Owing to his remarkable career, Robert Pattinson has been able to accumulate a significant amount of awards and accolades. Most recently, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance as Lottie in Pattinson’s solo directorial debut, The Rover. Sadly, the award went to Michael Keaton for his performance in Marvel’s Dark Phoenix. Nonetheless, Robert Pattinson’s nomination is a stunning achievement for a man of his caliber. Moreover, he’s previously been nominated for, and won, several awards for his work in, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and The Twilight Saga: New Moon. In total, he’s been nominated for eight Academy Awards and has won three. One can only assume that Robert Pattinson’s career is going to continue to take off after this latest nomination!
