If you’re reading this, I assume you know who Robert Pattinson is. You probably recognize him from his starring roles in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie series or from his role as Cedric Diggory in the new Harry Potter movie, which comes out next year.

But you might not know that behind the scenes he’s a total sweetheart. While we’re always going to see the actor play badass characters, it’s important to remember that he’s a lot more sensitive than a tough guy image would suggest. Here are some adorable moments that prove just how soft and tenderhearted this big Hollywood star can be.

When He Sang To Baby Animals

Pattinson has a beautiful voice and is obviously a fan of old-school singing. He particularly loves to sing to baby animals. During an interview with Matt Lauer on The Today Show in 2016, the actor was asked about his love for animals and if he would consider donating his time to an animal shelter. He replied:

“I would love to do that. I have a golden heart, so I feel very fortunate to be able to give back to animals in some way. It’s very sweet. I love animals, and it’s great when the tables are turned, so to speak. I love being able to give them as much attention and love as I can, especially when they’re very young. It’s such a simple thing, but it makes me so happy when I do it.”

When He Sang To Drake

The Most Interesting Man in the World wasn’t the only person who got a visit from Drake. In fact, one of the most famous hip hop artists of all time came to see him too. On an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2016, Drake and Pattinson sang a duet titled “Someday, Maybe.” Though it wasn’t originally released as a single, the track has become a viral sensation thanks to Drake’s passionate performance and Pattinson’s ethereal vocals.

When He Sang To Miley Cyrus

Before he became a famous face, Robert Pattinson was a member of the British film crew that went on to win an award for Best Original Score at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival for the movie, Spring Breakers. The film’s co-director, Harmony Korine, who also produces the documentary Dark Horse, revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair that although they weren’t originally friends, they bonded over their love for classical music after becoming close working together on Spring Breakers. When asked if he has any songs he would like to perform live, Pattinson replied:

“I love Miley Cyrus; she’s great. Just recently she released her album, Young and Living, and I have a song on there called ‘Spring Breakers.’ So I would love to sing that song for her. I would love to do a duet with her. She is a real talent, a real dynamo.”

When He Sang To Ed Sheeran

One of the biggest (and brightest) stars in pop music is another person who showed up at the altar of true love — Ed Sheeran. The English singer-songwriter tweeted in August 2016 that he had secretly been in love with Pattinson ever since his first audition for Twelfth Night, a film adaptation of Shakespeare’s famous play. In the film, Sheeran plays the part of Malvolio, a moody kinsman of Olivia (played by Emily Browning).

Sheeran tweeted:

“I met @pattinsonjon at my first ever audition for @twelfthnightmovie #EdSheeran #Malvolio #OliviaBrowning #Shakespeare.”

When He Sang To Harry Styles

Though he’s only been singing professionally for a little over a decade, Robert Pattinson already has an extensive discography with over a decade of solo albums and numerous collaborations with other artists. The multi-hyphenate also dabbles in writing music and has written a number of songs for himself and other musicians. In 2015, he co-wrote the track “Sober” for One Direction’s album, Take Me Home.

While Harry Styles has yet to publicly show his feelings for the actor, it’s clear that the two share a special connection. In September 2016, Styles performed a song he co-wrote with the Scottish singer/songwriter, KT Tunstall, called “Ghost.” The two musicians have been friends for a long time and have previously collaborated on “Hold My Hand” and “I Could Do It.”

When He Sang To Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is one of the best known and most influential celebrities in the country music world, so it’s no surprise that she and Robert Pattinson share a special connection. The two were introduced to each other at the 2015 American Music Awards when Pattinson presented Swift with an award. They’ve since had multiple encounters at both intimate and professional levels. At the 2015 Glorious Food Awards, Pattinson and Swift sang a duet together titled “Delicate.”

Swift has yet to publicly show her feelings for the actor, but it’s clear that they share a special connection. In October 2016, while visiting Australia, Swift tweeted a photo of herself and Pattinson together, writing:

“I love this picture.”

The most recent example of Swift and Pattinson’s cozy relationship came in January 2018 when they were both featured in Marie Claire’s ‘Most Influential’ list. Pattinson was named as one of the “most influential British people” in the world, and Swift was named the “most influential American woman in the world.”

When He Danced With Baby Animals At His Wedding

Though he may play a tough guy on the outside, on his wedding day, Robert Pattinson demonstrated just how soft he can be. At his wedding to long-time partner, Stella Bowen, the actor danced with baby animals. Onlookers reported that he danced with llamas, goats, and rabbits at his wedding. While some may find this strange, the dancing was no accident. Pattinson has been a dedicated animal rights activist for years, and he wanted to make sure that his guests understood the connection he has with these animals. He told Entertainment Tonight:

“I’ve always loved animals and tried to spend as much time with them as I can. As a child, my dad would read me stories about animals saving humans. It was just ingrained in me that animals are the most gentle creatures. So, when I heard about the Dancing With Animals Movement, I wanted to be a part of it. I didn’t want to sit still and act like a statue – as most people would do at a wedding – so I asked the organizers if it was okay to dance with the animals. They said it was fine as long as I didn’t pull any tricks! I assured them that I would behave myself.”

When He Gave A Back-Rapping Performance

Though he isn’t the best dancer in the world, Robert Pattinson is definitely the king of hip-hop. In August 2018, shortly after the release of his solo album, Temperamental, he surprised fans by dropping a new track, “Back-Rapping,” at the end of the album. The song is a tribute to the late hip-hop pioneer, Run-D.M.C., and features Run’s daughter, Raquel, as well as Styles, Kanye West, and more!

“My friends and I have been rapping for as long as we can remember, but there has never been a song dedicated to Run-D.M.C. and his amazing music,” Pattinson said in a press release. “I feel that it’s time for a change and that this song will inspire people to action. Music is a form of art that can be used for good or bad, but I hope this song will inspire people to do good. It would make Run and his family very proud.”
