The stars are out, the weather is dreamy, and we’re all eagerly awaiting the official start of the summer movie season. Fortunately, it’s not too early to start planning your summer holiday, and what better way to spend your holiday than by catching a few movies? As usual, the megastar movie franchises will be turning up the heat, so to speak, with big-budget summer blockbusters. These are the films that draw us to the megaplexes in the first place, and they’ll be competing for our attention alongside indie darlings and famous movie stars. It’s a veritable feast of a summer movies 2019, and one that movie fans won’t want to miss. We should all be grateful that Hollywood has agreed to give us such a superb selection of cinematic adaptations to choose from. No matter which one you end up choosing, you’re bound to have a great time. The only downside to this bountiful selection is that it makes it more difficult to choose just one film to see in the cinema. There’s so much great content to check out! How can you possibly decide? Let’s take a look at how much money some of these A-list stars make per year, and see if it’s enough to keep you interested in their projects for much longer than the two or three weeks that the average blockbuster will be playing in theaters.
How Much Does Robert Pattinson Earn?
Well, it depends on a variety of factors, but we’ve managed to put together a rough estimate based on the information that was available to us. First of all, let’s take a look at how much money he made from the Twilight series. According to reports, the Swedish actor has been paid handsomely for his work in the movies. The first film in the series, Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight, turned three years ago this month, and has presumably made a lot of money since then. It’s a great success story, considering the book’s initial reception was fairly lukewarm compared to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1, which was released only a few months later. It currently holds the record for the lowest grossing opening weekend for a feature film at the time of its release (just under £4M), and it’s even less likely to see that figure rise anytime soon. Its worldwide gross is currently £13.8M, putting it in the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time. The second film, New Moon, is by far and away the director’s biggest success; it made £13.3M on its opening weekend and is currently sitting on a worldwide gross of £27.7M as of mid-July 2019.
It was recently announced that Stephenie Meyer is to write a prequel novel to the Twilight series tentatively titled Eclipse. A release date has yet to be set for this anticipated book, but given that the last novel was turned in over a year ago, we can probably assume that it’s going to be published at some point this year.
How Much Does Jennifer Lawrence Make?
We couldn’t talk about A-list stars’ salaries without mentioning the latest addition to the superstar fold, Jennifer Lawrence. The American actress is well-known for her roles in Silver Linings Playbook and Hunger Games, and in 2022 she’ll be turning up the heat once more with her upcoming movie, Utopia.
It’s not just that she’s a megastar now; her career trajectory was certainly on a rise well before she rose to fame, thanks in part to her role in the horror movie The Hunger Games. It was made in 2012, and in that year alone it made £6M from its international box-office takings. Those takings then saw a huge uptick in the following year, and by the end of 2015 it had made £32M. At the time of writing, it has made £60.7M which makes it one of the biggest-grossing films of all time (as of July 2020) and puts its worldwide box-office take above £100M. It’s safe to assume that Lawrence will be making a lot of money in the coming years, and not just from the movies; her lifestyle brand LK Bennett made £5.43M in profits in the year ending March 2021.
How Much Does George Clooney Earn?
We’re nearly at the end of our list, but we couldn’t leave out a star who hasn’t been directly connected to an annual salary yet. The American actor and director George Clooney has been a household name for years, and in 2022 he’ll be turning up the heat once more with the upcoming release of Ocean’s 8, a spin-off prequel which will introduce us to the iconic criminal Oceanic 880. Ocean’s 8 is the latest film in a trilogy which began with the critically acclaimed Suburbicon and continued with last year’s Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. The films were largely panned by critics, but they’ve certainly done well at the box office, particularly Suburbicon which made £14.7M on its opening weekend and is currently sat on a worldwide gross of £26M. Hotel Transylvania 3 was released in June 2021 and currently has a worldwide gross of £19.3M. It’s safe to assume that George Clooney will be raking it in soon enough.
Let’s be honest; the only people who are going to see these movies are other movie fans. We’re not going to the cinema to hang out with our friends or meet new people. We’re going to see a movie and then we’ll be back home with our buddies. We’re probably only going to see the biggest franchises because we want to see what all the fuss is about. It’s the perfect opportunity to fulfill a childhood dream and see some of the most popular movies ever made on the big screen. We can safely assume that this will be the case with most people, which means that the money issue shouldn’t really be a problem. The only downside is that it can get expensive to see all of these movies in theaters. It’s usually not one or two films that we want to see in theaters, it’s usually the complete collection. For those of us who want to see a film more than once, we’ll have to wait till it’s been released on DVD to see it again. That’s what’s wrong with going to the cinema; you have to wait a long time before you can see a film again. When it comes to renting movies, there are so many pitfalls to avoiding, so make sure that you’re aware of all of them.
