Comic Con Is the Ultimate Awards Show

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a decade since Robert Pattinson became a professional actor. Back in 2005, he was plucked from relative obscurity to play the lead in the Harry Potter film series. Since then, the 27-year-old actor has won a Golden Globe, an Academy Award, and a BAFTA for his work in the films (he was also nominated for an Academy Award for his work in Water For Elephants).

As well as acting, Pattinson is an accomplished musician who plays the guitar and piano. And, of course, he has a voice (he did some of the work to remove his Scottish accent from his third Twilight movie).

So it should come as no surprise that the actor would find excitement in New Orleans this year at the Wizard World Comic Con. The world’s biggest comic book convention has always been associated with superheroes and pop culture, and this year’s guest list features many famous faces from the world of comics. And what’s more, the convention takes place during Halloween season, so there’ll be plenty of witches, wizards, zombies, and monsters walking the streets of New Orleans this Halloween season.

The star of the show will be Peter Capaldi, who also plays the lead in the new Netflix series The Christmas Tree. Capaldi’s been a television mainstay for almost 30 years now, so it’s great to see him taking the time out of his busy schedule to come to the Wizard World event. Fans of the actor may recognize him from the long-running TV show The Thick of It, which is set in the political world of Westminster in London. For those who haven’t yet seen The Thick of It, Capaldi plays a ruthless and cunning political strategist called Malcolm Tucker.

Along with Capaldi, the convention will be graced by famous American comic book artists Dave Stewart and Jimmy Palmiotti. Stewart’s best known for his work on Marvel Comics’ Guardians of the Galaxy, while Palmiotti’s work includes the Death Star trench run from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Both men are writing this year’s Captain America as well, which will be made into a Broadway musical. So it will be great to see them in person and meet the man behind the Marvel Comics’ most memorable creations.

Comic Con is a Family-Friendly Event

Even if you have kids, there are plenty of things at the Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con that are kid-friendly. For example, the guests will be signing autographs and posing for photos with kids. Plus, there are a host of comic book-themed attractions that little ones will love. These include giant robot fighters (Ironman and Ironman’s War Machine are permanent fixtures at the event), a medieval tournament (archery, jousting, and swordplay), an indoor skydiving experience, and the ever-popular comic book art gallery. It would be a shame to miss out on all the fun just because you have children. So go easy on the booze and keep an eye out for any aggressive behavior.

The Most Anticipated Movies and TV Shows at the Wizard World New Orleans Comic Con

It’s fair to say that, in 2018, the biggest movie events to look forward to are Avengers: Infinity War and Avatar 2. Both of these films are set to be released in the next year, and they’ll join an already impressive list of Marvel Comics’ movies that are due for release in the near future. (Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, and Spiderman: Homecoming).

Many of the projects in development don’t have U.S. release dates yet, but they’re anticipated to be among the year’s biggest movies. These include Black Panther, Logan, and Solo.

It’s also worth keeping an eye on the small screen for new TV drama series. For example, fans of Stranger Things should look forward to the arrival of the Upside Down this October. Also, when it comes to comic book adaptations, it’s never been more diverse. While many previous series have focused on superheroes, the biggest upcoming shows such as The X-Files, The Handmaid’s Tale, and The Punisher will dive into other genres.

Robert Pattinson’s 2018 Schedule Looks Familiar

Let’s not forget, this is the actor’s fourth time in New Orleans. Back in 2013, he came for the Mardi Gras, in 2015 he came for the French Quarter Festival, and in 2017 he came for the Super Bowl. So it looks like he’ll be heading back for more this October.

Of course, not all of the actor’s activities will be related to his role as Stephen Collins, aka Capt. America. He’ll also be appearing on screen in the upcoming film The Way Back, which is based on the novel of the same name by Colin Rees. The movie is set for release in February of next year.

In other words, there’ll be plenty for Robert Pattinson to do in New Orleans in October. Just prepare for the humid weather and the weird customs and language (especially in the French Quarter). If you have questions about touring with your pet snake or want to know which tablecloth to take for your bridal suite, ask the locals. They’ll know. (And if they don’t, they’ll point you in the right direction).
