Two of Hollywood’s most admired and talented stars recently teamed up to bring new meaning to the phrase “It’s a Wonderful Life’.
Set to premiere on Christmas Day, the film tells the story of George Bailey, an average and ordinary man who happens to be the protagonist in the classic Frank Capra film ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’.
In the film, George lives in a small town in Bedford Falls, where he works for a small factory. One day, he meets a young woman named Peggy who enchants him with her kind spirit and beautiful smile.
George is instantly smitten and decides to take a gamble and propose to Peggy. However, before he can do so, the Great Depression strikes and, overnight, his life turns into a living nightmare as he is faced with mounting debts and the unemployment rate soars. Fortunately, through a series of fortunate events, George miraculously avoids financial ruin and is even granted a loan to repay his debts. He then uses the rest of his money to buy a fleet of taxis and give them to his friends. In the end, inspired by the story of a man trying to change the world for the better, George decides to give back to the community and offers his services as a volunteer fireman. Ultimately, it is implied that because George is such a positive and giving person, his community would not be the same without him.
Since its premiere in 1946, “It’s a Wonderful Life’” has become a classic example of how to tell a heartfelt story using only a few words and phrases. The film is now considered to be one of the greatest films of all time and it has inspired a Broadway play, numerous parodies and even a rap album.
In “It’s a Wonderful Life’,” the perpetually optimistic George gives new meaning to the phrase “hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.” With its uplifting message and unforgettable characters, “It’s a Wonderful Life’” is an example of the type of movie that keeps on giving. He is not as respected as he was before the pandemic and his children struggle to understand why no one seems to value his talents. Ultimately, this causes much turmoil in his personal life as well as the lives of those around him. Despite this, George remains positive and, in the end, his goodness and his selflessness inspire those around him to rise above their own troubles and support each other. “It’s a Wonderful Life” is a timeless film about believing in people and being there for those who need you most. The story remains as relevant today as it was when the film was first released.
Pattinson On The Set Of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’
If you have ever seen a Robert Pattinson movie, you will recognize him instantly. The handsome English actor has starred in some of the most memorable films of the past decade, most notably “Twilight” and “Snow White and the Huntsman.”
Pattinson currently stars as the tragically heroic King John in “The King,” a Showtime series based on the life of English King John (Pattinson). The part was written specifically for him and he believes it to be one of the greatest scripts he has ever read.
While filming wrapped for the summer in Dublin, Ireland, Pattinson was asked about his upcoming film “It’s a Wonderful Life’” and what working on the set was like.
“It’s a Wonderful Life” is an absolutely incredible story,” Pattinson told Collider.com. “What I loved about [screenwriter Scott] Beck’s pitch was that it was a love letter to the movie. That was the best part about it. He wrote it as a love letter to cinema, which is what made it special. Even more special was that [director] Joe [Ross] and [writer] Julia [Williams] asked me to be part of the team. I’d never really worked with them before, but they were two of the most talented people I’ve ever met and they really trusted me to help bring their vision to life.
Pattinson, who is Welsh, added that he was “honored” to be asked to be a part of the project. “I think that’s why I got [the part], because I can speak for the character,” he said. “He wouldn’t speak in a way that’s probably expected of a king, but he would always have something to say. He would always have a comment. He would always have a wisecrack. So, I think that’s what they were going for.”
While some may be put off by the idea of an “It’s a Wonderful Life” sequel, the idea behind the film and its characters remain as relevant today as they were back then. The film is now considered to be one of the greatest films of all time and it has inspired a Broadway play, numerous parodies and even a rap album.
However, for whatever reason, it has never really been acknowledged that “It’s a Wonderful Life’” was a musical. The classic film will be honored with a special live musical performance at the 84th Academy Awards on March 4, 2020. The Broadway musical based on the film won a Tony Award in 2013 and it will be interesting to see if “It’s a Wonderful Life’” continues to inspire future musicals.
