I have my share of ups and downs when it comes to my hair. On the plus side, I’m pretty sure that my hair is one of the most beautiful natural phenomena on this planet. It’s shiny, bouncy, and incredibly easy to style. My hair also makes me very popular in the playground and on the playground, popular is one of the many beauties that hair can bring. Unfortunately, I also have a lot of fears associated with my hair, mostly related to the way that it grows and the tools that are used to cut it. I was very scared to grow my hair long, so when it started growing past my shoulders, I freaked out. My fear slowly morphed into a paralyzing anxiety that made simple tasks like brushing my hair or washing my face more challenging efforts. I worried that if I didn’t tame my hair with the right tools and techniques, that it would never grow healthy, luscious strands again. Luckily, my hair has grown past my shoulders and I’ve learned how to properly take care of it. So, for the last few years, I’ve been documenting my hair journey on this blog and today, I’m going to share with you the best tools and techniques that I’ve used to tame my hair, as well as some tips on how to use them.
Hair Cleansing Routine
When it comes to my hair, I’m pretty picky about the products that I use and I try my best to keep everything natural and chemical free. A lot of people are allergic to certain products and others damage their hair, so I feel pretty good about avoiding those. For years, I used to wash my hair weekly and I would use a lot of hair products, including some conditioners. When I would shampoo my hair, the ends would become over-populated with oil and the shampoo itself would weigh my hair down. This, in turn, caused my hair to lose its shine and luster. So, I started avoiding shampooing my hair altogether and I started using conditioners more often. My conditioners have always been my #1 weapon in the war against dry, damaged hair, and I use a lot of them. In fact, I change up my hair cleansing routine depending on what kind of day I have, so that I can ensure that my hair ends up in the best possible state. On really oily days, I don’t wash my hair as much and I rely more on the power of conditioning. On relatively dry days, I’ll wash my hair but I won’t use a conditioner. Here’s a look at my hair cleansing routine. When I run out of my usual conditioner, I’ll either switch to a different kind or, if none of them feel right, then I’ll resort to using a shampoo.
Hair Waver
I use a lot of different hair tools to keep my strands shiny and full of health. One of the most popular ones is a hair waver. A hair waver is what you would often see people in horror movies using to torture their victims. The hair waver is a fantastic tool for taming frizziness and adding shine to your strands. All you have to do is run your hair through the device and it will add some extra oomph to your strands, as well as cut off some of the frizziness. The best part is that you don’t need a lot of hair, just a few inches at a time, and it will add years to your hair’s lifespan. Remember to always detangle your hair before you start using the tool and to only use the minimum amount of heat necessary to prevent your hair from melting. A lot of people think that using a hair waver on their hair will hurt them, but that’s totally not true. It can, however, result in breakage or a serious injury if used improperly. The best way to use a hair waver is to either start from the middle of the hair and make your way to the ends, or to use the ends as your starting point and work your way up. Either way, make sure that you’re always protected from overheating, as the tool will get very hot and touch the surface on which you’re sitting can cause serious burns.
Fry Shampoo
Fry shampoo is another great tool for adding shine to your strands. Like many of my hair products, I first encountered this product when I was in high school and it altered the way that I look at hair. My hair used to be really plain and drab and when I found myself in the need of a shine boost, I would simply spritz it on and, voila, instant shine. Although it doesn’t last very long, it cleanses your strands effectively and it doesn’t leave a sticky or apparent residue. It also works very well on very oily strands and on those that are prone to dryness. It doesn’t work as well on those with very low hair moisture levels. Try it out and see what all the hoopla is about, especially if you’re looking for an easy, no-fuss solution for adding some shine to your hair.
Hair Cream
Another great way to add shine to your hair is with a hair cream. I love using a hair cream because they never leave an oily, sticky, or apparent residue and they don’t weigh my hair down. They’re also great for smoothing out any kinks or knots that you have in your hair. When choosing a hair cream, make sure that you look for one that has a light scent, as this will make it easier for you to use. Some of the best creams on the market don’t leave an oily sheen on your strands and they help to lock in moisture, so it’s important that you choose correctly. After all, you can never have too much hydration in your hair. It’s amazing what a difference a few drops of cream can make.
Hair Wax
If you have very thick hair, then you can use hair wax to add some shine to your strands. Just be sure to use a heat protecting serum before applying the wax, as this will make it easier for you to shape your strands. The great thing about using hair wax is that it’s easy to apply and it leaves an amazing shine on your strands. Just make sure to remove any excess before you leave the house.
Silk-Wool Serum
Another great way to add shine to your hair is with silk-wool serum. This is a fantastic product because it’s completely vegan and cruelty free. It doesn’t leave an oily residue, so you don’t need to worry about washing your hair afterward. It also has a light texture, so it doesn’t weigh your hair down. The best part is that it makes your strands look like they’ve been through an entire spa treatment. It deep cleanses your strands while maintaining the natural oils and proteins that make your hair so attractive. It’s a brilliant product for people with dull strands and for people who want to add some shine and luster to their hair.
Detangling Cream
Most people don’t realize how much damage they do to their hair when they try to hurry through hair brushing and hair washing routines. Detangling your hair can be very damaging to your strands, so make sure to protect them with a detangling cream. The best type of cream for this task is one that works as a deep cleanse and conditioner in one. It will make your strands smooth and silky while also nourishing them. It will leave your hair looking full and healthy. If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to add shine to your strands, then try out a detangling cream.
Hair Sprays
Hair sprays are another quick and easy way to add shine to your hair. They’re perfect for people with quick hair routines or people who want to add a bit of polish to their outfits. When choosing a hair spray, make sure that you choose one that is water-resistant, as this will make it easier for you to use it when the weather turns warm. Some of the best hair sprays on the market have a matte finish, so you don’t need to worry about making your hair look too shiny. The great thing about hair sprays is that they’re easy to use and they leave a subtle shine on your strands. Just make sure to always use a heat protecting serum or spray before using any heat product, as this will help protect your hair and keep it looking healthy and natural.
