The last couple of years have been pretty eventful for Robert Pattinson, from his turn as the lover Scott Fitzgibbon in the Fifty Shades franchise, to his role as the tortured romantic lead Christian Grey in the recently released movie adaptation of EL James’s bestselling Fifty Shades of Grey. Now, the British actor is set to become the next James Bond with his role as the suave, sophisticated, and lethal SPECTRE assassin Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the upcoming James Bond film, SPECTRE. With such a rich and varied filmography under his belt, it’s only fair to say that Pattinson is fully prepared to carry on Fleming’s legendary legacy. Here we’re going to run down 10 things you should know about the next Bond…

1. He’s Been In The Black – While most of the major film festivals have gone green since the beginning of the year, it was actually confirmed back in October that SPECTRE would be shot entirely in CGI. Not only is it a first for the series, but the main antagonist Blofeld has never before been seen on screen (the character was first introduced in 1967’s You Only Live Twice). So, to make sure that audiences knew who they were watching, producers decided to make the villain entirely CGI. That’s a lot of computer work. Fortunately, experts were able to pick up on some of Blofeld’s quirks and use them as inspiration for the character (the actor, Jeffrey Jones, who played Blofeld, even commented that he based his performance on a real person). Regardless, the end result is an incredibly lifelike and terrifying villain that will stop even the most seasoned Bond fan in their tracks.

2. He’s Looking For The Next Big Role – Though 007 has always been a charismatic, beloved, and prominent figurehead of the franchise, he’s never been the focus of a film. From starring in early blockbusters like Doctor No and From Russia With Love to playing supporting roles in more recent blockbusters like Skyfall and Spectre, 007 has always been a background figure. But that’s all about to change with SPECTRE. For the first time in the series’ history, Bond will be front and center, with the main cast album featuring all twenty-seven of Fleming’s James Bonds.
