It’s no secret that the 32-year-old British actor turned singer-songwriter Robert Pattinson is one of Hollywood’s most beloved, if slightly famous, leading men. Widely known for his role as the tortured artist Edward Cullen in the Twilight series, as well as his starring role in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Pattinson has carved out a serious niche for himself in Hollywood. Now, with the curtain closing on the third Twilight installment, it’s time for the actor to celebrate another major milestone in his life: his 30th birthday.
So just how old is 32-year-old actor Robert Pattinson? Let’s take a quick look back at some of the important dates in his life:
Childhood And Early Milestones
As previously noted, Pattinson was born May 4th, 1984 in London, England. He was raised in Scotland with his English mother, Katy, and his Scottish father, Paul. The family relocated to Los Angeles, California when Pattinson was a child. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley and attended Valley High School. He began his acting career in 2005, when he was scouted by a talent agent while auditioning for a role in a student film. The following year, he landed his first big break as Eric Northman in the critically acclaimed television series, “True Blood.” Since then, he’s appeared in a number of big-budget Hollywood films, including last year’s massive box office hit, “The Great Gatsby.” In addition to acting, he’s also dabbled in music, with several songs appearing on his albums. His song, “Roses,” which appeared on his 2013 album, “Twilight Saga: Complete Music Collection,” was reportedly inspired by his ex-girlfriend, Katy Perry.
Marriage And Kids
In April 2014, Robert Pattinson, a.k.a. “Scorpio”, became engaged to American actress and singer, Emily Blunt. The couple went public with their relationship in December 2013, and were subsequently married in a lavish ceremony in Venice, Italy on April 24th, 2014. Shortly after the wedding, the newlyweds flew off to Hong Kong for a brief vacation with Emily’s parents.
Pattinson and Blunt have yet to announce any details about their wedding anniversary, but they do have a boy named Otis, whom they adopted from China in 2014. The family went public with their adoption in December 2015 and immediately opened up about the hardships of being an international family, noting that their daughter, Alice, now 7, is also Chinese. “It’s been an adventure of a lifetime. We’re so proud to be able to bring home such a beautiful child,” Emily said at the time.
Career To Date
Pattinson’s filmography so far includes supporting roles in the 2014 movies, “The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies” and “The Revenant,” in addition to starring roles in the Twilight series and the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. On the television circuit, he’s appeared on shows such as “Once Upon a Time,” “Outlander,” and “The Handmaid’s Tale,” as well as in episodes of “The Simpsons” and “Game of Thrones.”
The Twilight franchise proved to be a major turning point in Pattinson’s career. Since the first film, Twilight, was released in 2008, the actor has gone on to appear in all three installments of the blockbuster series, as well as in the highly anticipated adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling saga, “The Twilight Saga: Eclisse.” In addition to starring in Twilight, he also penned the film’s official soundtrack, which was released in 2010. That same year, he released his first book, “Twilight Diaries,” a collection of short stories written in collaboration with artist, Kristin Bricker. The actor also lent his voice to the video game, “Fallout 4,” as the voice of Scott, a post-apocalyptic drifter.
In October 2012, Pattinson confirmed that he and Emily had bought a home in the Hollywood Hills. The following year, the Hollywood newcomer celebrated his 25th birthday with a fancy-dress party, dressing up as Prince Charles for Halloween. In April 2014, he shared an Instagram photo of himself holding a cake, decorated with pictures of the film’s leads, Bella and Edward. It was revealed a few days later that the cake was in fact for his upcoming wedding to actress Emily Blunt.
Celebrity Friendships
Pattinson is best known for his friendships with some of Hollywood’s most famous faces. Perhaps the closest of these friendships is with Leonardo DiCaprio, with whom he shares a publicist, Erin Fleming. The two have been friends for years and even collaborated on screen, with DiCaprio lending his voice to the singing cowboy, J.R. Williams. On the red carpet, DiCaprio is often seen with Pattinson, either at premieres or award shows, with the two looking dapper and dazzling the crowds.
Pattinson has also been friends with Will Smith for quite some time. The two collaborated on the 2014 film, “After Hours,” and appeared at each other’s wedding ceremonies. Smith, like Emily Blunt, is a prominent member of the Hollywood elite, with films such as “The Pursuit of Happyness” and “Men in Black” under his belt. In 2012, Smith even joked that he was “proud” to be seen as a last-minute addition to Pattinson’s wedding guest list.
Pattinson has also long been friends with Jamie Foxx, with whom he shares a publicist, Sally LaLonde. The two first worked together in 2010, when Foxx directed and starred in the short film, “Take a Seat.” Since then, they’ve worked together on several occasions, with several of Foxx’s films featuring appearances from or featuring Pattinson. One of these films is the comedy, “Django Unchained,” which is set for release this year.
