It’s no secret that Robert Pattinson is one of the most famous and respected vampires in cinematic history. With good reason. He has played the role of the undead for years now and has been featured in a number of successful films along the way. But it appears that his Hollywood career is far from over. Pattinson has revealed that he has a brand new look under his belt, which is both surprising and exciting to say the least. In an interview with Parade Magazine, the actor/director/writer/model said the following:
- On how he changed his body since his last movie: “It was both shocking and exciting. I’ve never looked thinner or felt better. It was an interesting change.”
- On how he prepared for his new role: “I talked to a lot of people who were in similar situations, so I learned a lot. I read a lot of books and watched a lot of documentaries and videos to get a sense of what this group of men and women go through.”
- On the significance of re-creating these lifestyles: “It’s important to show that these people aren’t scary monsters. They’re human beings just like you and me.”
Pattinson’s new look is completely different than what we’re used to seeing from the Twilight franchise. Gone are the days of the pale and gaunt actor. Instead, we’re treated to a lean and mean Pattinson, whose belly looks completely flat and smooth. But what’s most significant about this revelation is that we’re seeing Pattinson show his support for a worthy charitable cause. He has donated his body weight in pounds to Stand Up 2 Cancer, an organization that raises money to support cancer research and patient care. According to their website, they currently have over 60 research projects underway, with more than a million participants registered around the world. It’s great to see that someone of Pattinson’s stature and Hollywood reputation is taking the time to raise money for such a wonderful cause. It certainly makes us want to participate just a little bit more than we already do.
The Evolution Of A Hollywood Icon
It’s been a long time coming. One of the most enduring characters of our time will be celebrating his 100th birthday in just a few short months. As wonderful as Harry Potter is, we’re more than a little bit excited for another film adaptation. The franchise has continued to grow and evolve over the years, and it appears that J.K. Rowling and company are planning something truly special for Mr. Potter’s milestone birthday. In what is surely the biggest news to come out of Hollywood this year, JKR announced that she is working on an entirely new Harry Potter prequel that will shed some much-needed light on the character’s early life. While the news is incredibly exciting, it’s also a little bit nerve-wracking. What if they don’t meet the right guy? What if they don’t like the cut of his jib? What if he doesn’t have the right bodyscanning technique? What if… What if… What if…
Thankfully, we don’t have to worry about any of that. Potter fans, rejoice! Because it appears as though JKR has found the perfect man for Bertie, the title character in her upcoming prequel. He’s even written a book about Potter’s early years. And, what’s more, he’s embodied the character of Bertie several times over the past few years. In 2018, he’ll be celebrating his 62nd birthday. And, just like that, half of our anxiety disappears. Because it appears that Mr. Potter is at last going to find true love and happiness with the woman he’s been carrying on his shoulder for far too long. (No, not Ginny. We’re talking about Bertie here.)
But it’s not just Harry Potter. We’ve got a new wave of old gods and goddesses coming to theaters next year, thanks to Paddington and Dark Phoenix. 2018 will mark the 20th anniversary of the Paddington franchise. And, as wonderful as it is to see these beloved characters on the big screen again, we’re just as excited about one of the stars of the show: Ben Whishaw’s marvellous, marmalade-loving marmalade man. Dark Phoenix marks the 20th anniversary of the X-Men franchise. So it’s been a busy year for Hollywood. Not only is 2019 going to be the 10th anniversary of Twilight, but the 20th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings as well.
In the meantime, we’ve got new projects to look forward to. Black Panther is coming next year. And, hopefully, so is the much-awaited sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Let’s all just be thankful that Hollywood is still giving us something to look forward to. Especially since it’s not all good news. We’ve also got the looming threat of the pandemic to cope with. And all of this could potentially be swept away if we aren’t careful. So let’s all just keep our fingers crossed for the best and hope for the healthiest year yet.
