Most of us have felt like strangers in our own bodies at some point in our lives – it’s how we identify with the character of Peter Pan in J. M. Barrie’s enduring play. But for actor and comedian Peter Serafinowicz, being a stranger in his own body was a reality – he was born with tetralogy of Fallot, a heart condition that required multiple surgeries as a baby. This is what eventually led him to study acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), where he graduated in 2011. Since then, he has been featured in a variety of roles, portraying everything from a mentally disabled man to a drug dealer. In 2015, he played the Joker in a Brazilian production of the theatre adaptation of DC Comics’ The Dark Knight Rises and even had to learn how to throw a punch. Now, he is taking on a new challenge: exploring the zodiac with each sign represented by a different actor.
Aries (March 21 – April 19)
The first person we encounter when we enter the world is not our mother but our doctor. For Aries, this encounter is likely to be both terrifying and exhilarating – there’s no question that being born is an amazing experience, but it’s also one that you might not want to repeat. As Mars aligns with the physician’s hands, it’s possible that this is the hand of a man taking your measurements for a crisp white shirt – or a woman and two children who are your grandparents.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20)
For Taurus, birth is a day of triumph and celebration. As the Bull, the Earth’s largest land animal, you probably felt the irresistible urge to burst out of your mother’s belly and into the world. What you aren’t prepared for is the feeling of having your whole being measured and assessed – from your head to your toes, everything will be taken into consideration. The Bull is intelligent and passionate, and despite the clichés, he can be an excellent lover. For example, Aquarius and Taurus make a stunningly beautiful couple. While you might not want to show your navel at any point during the day, he will definitely want to see it – and taste it.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20)
Gemini is famous for his or her adaptability. As the Twins, you are used to being able to fit in with almost anyone – it’s what makes you such an amazing conversationalist. Your parents might even say that you can talk your wife into anything! While this might be said to be a bit of an exaggeration, you absolutely can adapt your personality to match the company you keep – especially if that company is made up of people you care about. You have a strong connection with your sister and your brother, whose signs combine to form the basis of the modern psychological profile of the Gemini Man or Woman.
Cancer (June 21 – July 22)
As the Crab, you have the ability to feel deeply connected to other people, whether you know them or not. While this might be an amazing trait that you are grateful for, it can also trap you. One day, you might find yourself in a room with 10 strangers and you will somehow feel as if you’ve known them all your life. It is this quality that often gets Cancerians into trouble – you love being with your friends and family, but you also feel responsible for those you care about. While this might not seem like a problem, getting your friends and family to acknowledge this side of your personality can be tricky. Learning to manage your emotions is an essential part of being a true Cancerian.
Leo (July 23 – August 22)
Leo is the Sun, the monarch of the zodiac. Born under the sun sign of Leo, you were probably blessed with exceptional physical beauty and had no trouble attracting people who shared your interests – whether it was the music you loved or the sports teams you supported. People loved to be near you because you make them feel smart, even if you don’t feel that way inside. Your partner might disagree, though – they might feel that your extra weight makes them feel smart, too. The problem is, you want to be with both of them – and the one you love most is the one who feels the need to tell you what you can and cannot do.
Virgo (August 23 – September 22)
For a while, Virgo might seem like the lesser of two evils. You could either be born under the sign of the Virgin or the Parasite. While the Virgin is generous and trusting, the Parasite is manipulative and self-serving. Fortunately, you get to choose – much like any good relationship, you get to choose your own path. Like many Virgos, you have a deep connection with nature – you feel most at home in a forest or an empty beach. But you also understand technology and how it can be used for good or evil. While you might be tempted to get a tattoo with a lion roaring or a snake striking, these might not be the best options – if you’re feeling rebellious, get a tech tattoo that helps you organize your life, such as connecting different social media accounts into one interface.
Libra (September 23 – October 22)
If you’re born under the Libra sign, you will seem to have no difficulties connecting with others. Like the Scales, you might appear to be at odds with your emotions. Sometimes you want to be kind, other times you want to be cruel – but you can never be sure which mood will emerge. In reality, you’re not as simple as that – every experience is a learning experience and that learning process connects you to others. While you might be tempted to be as shallow as possible with your connections, you will inevitably learn to be more nuanced. Sometimes you might want to be the villain and sometimes you might want to be the hero – but you will always be able to rely on your sign to help you navigate such complex feelings.
Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)
While you might associate Scorpio with darkness, this is far from true – the Scorpion, like the Sagittarius, is among the most magnetic of the zodiac. Like the legendary character, you have an extraordinary ability to know what others are thinking. This might come in handy when dealing with an unfaithful spouse, as you will be able to read their every movement. While this is undoubtedly a useful skill, you would do well to develop your social skills – sometimes you have to enter the conversation before you can see the solution.
Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)
Sagittarius might be the most compatible of the zodiac with someone who was born under the sign of Gemini. You’re both curious and adaptable, and as the Archer, you can spend hours exploring the furthest reaches of space and time. Your partner might wonder what you’re doing, but they will never question your commitment to their best interests. You feel a connection with the other stars – whether it’s the twinkling lights of the city or the beauty of the night’s sky – this is why you associate the Sagittarius with both excitement and adventure.
Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)
Capricorn is the King – or Queen – of the Zodiac, and for good reason. The Goat is strong, capable, and determined to succeed. Your natural resources – be they money or material goods – will be greatly valued by those around you. Like the rest of the zodiac, you will see the world through a lens of balance. While you might get on well with people from all walks of life, they will value your opinion particularly highly because they know they can count on it.
Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)
Aquarius might be the most unusual of the zodiac – literally out of this world. Earth is the fifth planet from the Sun and you were probably born into a world that seemed small and insignificant compared to the cosmos. Although you can understand and appreciate the value of pure mathematics, you’ll see the world through an extraordinary lens that is at once human and cosmic. Learning to embrace your uniqueness and find your place in the universe will be one of the major challenges of your life.
