Rumors have been swirling about for months that Robert Pattinson had been cast in a major motion picture, possibly even the next Batman film. Now, thanks to a leaked picture, we know for sure that the rumors have not been lying and that Pattinson has in fact been cast in a pivotal role in the movie adaptation of American Psycho. It looks like the talented Brit is going to play the part of serial killer, Patrick Bateman.

The Film Adaptation Of American Psycho

There are actually two separate film adaptations of American Psycho. The book was initially turned into a film back in 2000, but it wasn’t until 2011 that the sequel was released. The story follows Patrick Bateman, a wealthy business student who sets out to impress his female audience with his knowledge of literature and expensive lifestyle. It seems that the sequel has the same plot as the first one, but it focuses more on Bateman’s obsession with women and his lavish lifestyle. The book is quite explicit about Bateman’s sexual exploits, so some of the content may not be suitable for younger audiences.

Pattinson’s Role Is Revealed In Leaked Photo

Now that the part of Bateman has been cast, it’s time to reveal the role. According to Latino Review, American Psycho will be adapted for the big screen by Darrin Scott, who previously worked with the Wachowskis on Cloud Atlas. Scott has adapted several novels for the big screen, including the fantastic The Hunger Games, so it’s not a huge surprise that he would tackle such a challenging and complex role. American Psycho will begin production this summer and hopes to hit theaters in 2016.
