While we await the fifth film in the Twilight franchise (The Twilight Film 5, set for release on December 19, 2019), visitors to the website IMDb may be wonderstruck by the fact that one of the most recent movies featuring Robert Pattinson is “The Dark Knight.”
The Dark Knight is a 2013 Batman movie in which Pattinson plays the role of a rogue investor named Bruce Wayne who discovers that his beloved Batsuits make for great wardrobe inspiration. (Yes, the film is set in the summer of 1989.)
The Dark Knight As Himself was not the first time that Pattinson had donned the costume of Batman. In fact, he made a pilgrimage to the set of the 1989 movie (which was released after Pattinson turned 30) and stayed in a Batsuit for a day. He later appeared in a blog post for the film’s official website with a cap and a bat emblematic of his costume.
Since its release, “The Dark Knight As Himself” has become one of the most popular Batman movies on IMDb, with a 7.7 rating (out of 10) and 21.9 million views on the website. The film’s most recent viewer was a woman from Belgium, who viewed it twice.
What’s next? Director Christopher Nolan has commented that “The Dark Knight” will be his last movie with Batman, and he’s not alone in this regard. Some of Hollywood’s most powerful brows have decided that the time has come to pass on the Batman character.
The Dark Knight Rises
While we’ve been waiting for the next film in the Twilight franchise, visitors to the website IMDb may have wondered if Robert Pattinson would ever return to the role of Batman.
