This week saw the premiere of Justice League on Warner Brothers, which means that Matt Damon’s Batman and his friends finally managed to bring together all of the heroes we’ve been hoping to see for years. While the movie didn’t live up to our high expectations, it still had its moments, and one of them is the fact that Robert Pattinson, who plays the villainous Bane, is now a multi-millionaire thanks to his role in one of the most successful DC Comics adaptations of all time.

Pattinson’s appearance in the movie was relatively brief, so for those who haven’t had the pleasure of meeting him yet, here’s a little bit about what he’s been up to since he left the screen.

1. He’s Expanded His Career

Pattinson first rose to fame as the lead in the Twilight films, and aside from some minor acting roles, he’s mostly stuck to what he knows best, which is singing and dancing. Since leaving the screen, he’s done a little bit of everything, including a foray into directing, which has been met with some critical success, but not yet enough to make a real impact on his bank account. He’s had a couple of small cameos in movies, the most recent being this year’s All Hallow’s Night, in which he plays a zombie.

2. He’s Been on Broadway

Pattinson has also been busy on Broadway, where he’s starred in several productions, including the aforementioned Dancing with the Stars, in which he won a Tony, and Blackball, which was last year’s best play, and in which he played a gay baseball player. He’s also had a brief stint in the West End, but aside from movie appearances, that’s been his main focus since Twilight. So, as you can see, he’s definitely kept himself busy. He could still end up doing movie cameo’s, or even a full series, since Warners hasn’t given up on the Batman franchise, even if it did take them till now to make its second movie.

3. He’s Worked with Some Major Celebs

Aside from acting in some of the biggest and most popular movies of our time (Twilight, The Hobbit, Snow White and the Huntsman, etc), Pattinson has also worked with some major celebrities, most recently Jamie Dornan, another famous face from The Fall and The Killing. He most notably directed Dornan in the upcoming third season of the Netflix series, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, as well as this year’s Beautiful, which starred Emmy Rossum and Neil Patrick Harris. He’s also helmed episodes of other big-name shows, including Game of Thrones and The Handmaid’s Tale.

4. He’s Launched His Own Product Line

While we’re on the subject of movie cameos, Pattinson has also launched his own product line, featuring luxury goods inspired by famous movie characters. The collection, aptly named RPattz, features items such as leather goods, fragrance, and bobble heads, and the actor has described it as a “small collection of luxury goods designed to celebrate the silver screen.”

5. He’s Toured Europe With Kristen Stewart

Since Twilight, Pattinson has mostly kept himself out of the public eye, rarely doing interviews and almost never giving away any details about his private life. However, this year has been a bit different. After a series of highly publicized break-ups and affairs, including one with fellow actor and now-husband, Stewart, he’s been quite open about his feelings and they’ve been abundantly displayed in the media.

As a result of all of this exposure, it would be wrong to say that Pattinson hasn’t been in the spotlight, but he definitely has, and he’s used his time there to promote some amazing projects. Last year, he lent his signature to the Kristen Stewart-chosen perfume, Snow White, which also happens to be one of our all-time favorite scents. He then went on a short European promotional tour, which included a splashy appearance on the cover of British GQ, where he discussed his relationship with both Stewart and the fashion industry in general, as well as a screening of his new movie, Heaven, on the beach of Lake Como. It was a very classy move, and one that certainly paid off; the designer house, Givenchy, re-issued the fragrance in his honor.

The Bottom Line

It’s no secret that Hollywood stars can make an obscene amount of money, even if they only show up for a few minutes in a movie. But even for a relatively minor part, Pattinson’s appearance in Batman v Superman helped to make him a wealthy, celebrity in his own right. Aside from a few small movie cameos, directing, and Broadway, he’s mostly kept himself occupied since his Twilight days, but there’s still plenty more to come, as we’ve seen with his Netflix series, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which is currently in the midst of its third season.

So, while we wait for the next installment of the series, or for more about Robert Pattinson’s adventures outside the world of film, we can at least take pride in the fact that one of the most influential and interesting men in Hollywood, a wealthy philanthropist, and an all-around nice guy, has been keeping busy.
