If you’re a fan of the “Twilight” movies, then you probably already know who Robert Pattinson is. The British actor plays the role of Edward Cullen in the blockbuster vampire series, and has since been appearing in other big-budget films since. If not, then here’s a short biography of Pattinson.
Born in London, England, on November 5, 1986, Robert Pattinson grew up in a family of five. He was raised in a small house on the outskirts of the city, and attended the prestigious High School of Art and Design in London. In 2009, he graduated from college with a degree in film production design.
A year later, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. In 2012, he made his debut in the film “Bel Ami”, playing the role of an aspiring filmmaker who falls in love with an heiress. That same year, he also starred in the psychological thriller “Kill Your Friends” alongside Mia Wasikowska and Alicia Vikander. In 2014, Pattinson co-starred in the drama “The Rover” alongside Guy Pearce and Vanessa Redgrave. In 2016, he had a supporting role in the comedy “Central Station”, which was followed by another supporting role in the drama “Jackie’.
Nowadays, Pattinson mainly works in film. Over the years, he’s had small and supporting roles in a number of movies, including “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2”, “The King’s Speech”, “Now You See Me”, and “Jackie”. He also had a short-lived sitcom in the United Kingdom called “Pattinson” for Channel Four. In 2019, he landed the lead role in the big-budget Netflix series “The White Princess”, based on the best-selling historical fiction novel by Rebecca Frayn. The series is set in 13th-century England and follows an idealistic young woman who defies her father and marries a man she doesn’t know well.
Aside from acting, Pattinson is also a published author. In 2018, he wrote and self-published a cookbook called “Hungry for More”. The volume offers 30 recipes, mostly for fish and chicken dishes, as well as a chocolate tart and a scone. He has also written and published a number of short stories and novellas, including the dystopian fantasy “Galatea 2.0” and the gothic romance “Luminous.” In 2019, his first novel “Private Peaceful” became available for purchase.
Off-screen, Pattinson keeps a low profile. In 2010, he began dating fashion mogul Emma Hart, and the couple got engaged in 2014. In September of that year, they held a secret wedding ceremony in Monaco. In May 2016, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Georgia. In 2017, they moved to London where they both now live. He is an active member of the Church of England and attends services regularly. Additionally, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family, often going on vacation with them to places like Ibiza and the Greek islands.
Despite his relative obscurity, Pattinson has still managed to attract a fair amount of negative press. In 2019, the Daily Mail published an article profiling the British actor and claiming that he avoids taking responsibility for his actions. “The British actor is known for his party lifestyle and love for dangerous sports,” reporter Catherine Rentzou writes. “He has been photographed holding a lit candle towards the end of a romantic date, or driving a car with only one headlight, and has posed for numerous magazine covers showing off his tattoos and piercings.” The outlet also claims that Pattinson has cheated on his wife. In fact, in 2018, a woman named Bethany Mckenzie accused him of physical and psychological abuse. Mckenzie, an author and stand-up comedian who has appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast and in a Netflix special, claimed that in 2017, she and Pattinson had a three-month-long affair and that he often kept her as a virtual prisoner in a hotel room. She also alleged that he had previously raped her. While Mckenzie’s claims were denied by the star’s lawyer, the actor did admit to cheating on his wife. He also released a statement, through his lawyer, assuring fans that he and his wife “remain deeply committed to one another and their family” and that he “has always acted honorably and with integrity.” Rentzou sums up: “When it comes to Robert Pattinson, it’s hard to know what to believe. He can be charming and thoughtful one minute, and then the next he can be throwing vulgarity around, acting erratically, and even threatening suicide.”
While it’s natural for fans to want to believe that their favorite stars are perfect, they are human and make mistakes just like the rest of us. Like many other Hollywood stars, Robert Pattinson has been photographed holding a lit candle towards the end of a romantic date, driving a car with only one headlight, and posing for numerous magazine covers showing off his tattoos and piercings. While some of these pictures are of dubious artistic quality, many of them are simply the result of good old-fashioned immaturity. However, the above quotes from the Mail on Sunday seem a bit over the top.
