The success of the new Batman movie – and, in particular, its villain, Robert Pattinson – inspired a Reddit thread about the actor’s portrayal of the Caped Crusader.

The discussion began when redditor elysiaawesome shared a photo of Robert Pattinson, in character as Batman, with the caption: ‘I have watched Batman movies quite frequently, and I must say that I prefer Robert Pattinson’s interpretation to other actors’/Bavas. Especially because he is not afraid to go brutal on set. Like, if he has to fight, he will beat the crap out of you. But I absolutely adore this movie.’

‘I just love how he portrays Batman,” she continued. “He has this wonderful gritty, realistic quality about him that is so perfect for the role. Plus, I love how he is not afraid to show some skin. Like, the shorts he wears in the movie are probably the most famous thing about him. Of course, I love his acting ability, too. Like, he is one of the best people I have ever seen in my entire life.’

This was followed by a lengthy thread, in which users shared their thoughts on Robert Pattinson as Batman. Many were in awe of the English actor’s performance, which they felt surpassed that of his on-screen counterparts.

The Pros

“[Pattinson] is just wonderful,” wrote redditor kurosawa. “I feel like he fits the role perfectly for the more realistic approach that they were going for with this movie.”

“The guy is incredible,” concurred redditor kooler. “Just an all-around perfect fit as Batman.”

“When I first heard about this new Batman movie, I was a little worried about the casting,” wrote redditor nikicool. “I’ve heard that Robert Pattinson wasn’t the biggest fan of Batman, but he totally nailed it. His Batman is more realistic, in my opinion. And that’s what matters.

The Cons

“He doesn’t seem like a comic book character to me,” wrote redditor stoner_king. “I feel like he is a little too tall. And, at least in this one, I feel like he is a little lacking in the charm department.”

“I don’t really like [Robert Pattinson’s] acting style,” said redditor vladimir_vlada. “I find it a bit too robotic. And, usually, I don’t like when an actor tries to overact when playing a role. Like, he tried to be funny in a couple of scenes, and it just didn’t work.”

Verdict

Many were won over by Robert Pattinson’s approach to portraying Batman, with one user even going as far to say: ‘I have watched Batman movies quite frequently, and I must say that I prefer Robert Pattinson’s interpretation to other actors’/Bavas. Especially because he is not afraid to go brutal on set. Like, if he has to fight, he will beat the crap out of you. But I absolutely adore this movie.’

Others, however, were less than impressed. “I’m not a huge Batman fan,” admitted redditor lonewinter. “But I’ve seen all of his movies, and I have to say that none of them are on my top five list.”

Regardless, it seems that most were impressed by Robert Pattinson’s take on the iconic superhero.
