The success of the Harry Potter films inspired J.K. Rowling to create the world of Hogwarts, where witches and wizards can live together in harmony. But did you know that the world of magic isn’t exclusive to the pages of a book? It exists in real life too, and celebrities play an important part in keeping the magic alive.
The latest example of this came in the form of a wedding that took place two weeks ago. Actors Robert Pattinson and Andrew Garfield, best friends and co-stars of the 2015 film The Lost Boys, tied the knot officiant by officiant at the Made In Italy wedding fair in Ischia.
The groom spent over £30,000 on wedding party gifts alone, including a Maserati for himself and a $125,000 Bugatti Veyron for his new wife. The reception, which was broadcast live on social media, was attended by 500 guests, and 200 more watched the wedding procession online.
But it’s not just about the wedding. The bond between these three talented celebrities is greater than just friendship, it seems. They’ve been pictured together on numerous occasions, and they certainly haven’t shied away from each other since their film wrapped shooting. Not only that, but they’ve also managed to stay close while living far away from each other, with Pattinson currently living in London and Garfield in New York.
With the release of the new film, Pattinson and Garfield are set to reunite on screen. While it’s great to see these famous friends looking out for each other and celebrating each other’s success, it’s also exciting to see them working together again. After The Lost Boys, Garfield is perhaps best known for his role as a superhero in the Spiderman films, while Pattinson has continued to work hard to maintain his A-list status. It wouldn’t be a surprise if these two got on each other’s nerves after working together for so long, but they’ve still got a soft spot for each other. It would seem that, for now at least, they’re best friends forever.
Wedding Trends For 2021
It seems that weddings aren’t going out of fashion anytime soon. The latest wedding trend to hit India was inspired by the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry wedding back in May. According to trade publication Weddings & Bridal, the country’s wedding market grew by 17% in the year following the couple’s wedding day compared to the year before.
While the bride wore a gorgeous, bespoke Monique Lales-designed wedding dress, with Prince Harry acting as her best man, the guest list for the reception included A-list celebs like Priyanka Chopra, Shilpa Shetty, and Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan. The bride’s parents, 82-year-old Dina Lales and 89-year-old Alfie Lales, also attended the ceremony.
The wedding of the year was followed by another celebrity ceremony just a few days later when Jennifer Lopez married DJ Snake. The couple’s guests included musicians like DJ Quads and DJ Khaled, as well as fashion designers, socialites, and more A-listers.
A Golden Age Of Weddings
But it’s not just about the big day. The whole wedding industry is experiencing a moment of praise as more and more people are tying the knot. According to the Wedding Industry Report published by NPD group, in 2019 the UK wedding market grew by 12% year-on-year to reach £16.9 billion (about $21.4 billion), with just over one in five marriages now costing over £100,000. Sales of wedding cakes and wedding dresses more than doubled in value, rising by 41% and 68% year-on-year respectively.
This trend is being touted as the ‘wedding golden era’, with couples looking to buck the trend of expensive breakfasts, wedding cinemas, and extravagant gifts in favour of more personal and creative ways of spending their big day. From bespoke cakes and DIY decorations to luxurious honeymoons and wedding tours, luxury wedding brands are emerging to capitalise on this growing market. With more people than ever wanting to wed, and the trend of avoiding mass weddings continuing, there’s no sign of this ‘wedding hangover’.
