Forbes’ annual list of the world’s most powerful women has topped many people’s agendas this year, thanks to its surprising inclusion of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Forbes’ senior US editor Katherine Jellison told us that it was “time for a change” and “a nod to a more modern world”. Naturally, people have begun to wonder about the power couple’s relationship, especially after they were spotted sharing a private kiss at a wedding in Italy.
Here, we analyse the relationship between Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz to answer the question: What’s going on?
Their Early Days
Before they were an item, Robert and Zoe were close friends. “We went to school together,” Zoe told us in an early 2019 interview. “We were really close friends. We were like brothers and sisters.” She continued: “We went through a really tough time when we were teenagers and that’s why we’re so close. It was a rough patch and we had to learn a lot about [trust]… I think that’s what helped us become so close. He taught me a lot.”
One of the first big signs of their burgeoning romance came when they were spotted canoodling on a sofa together at a Friends and Family Dinner in London. That same year, they were also seen sharing an intimate gaze at the LFF Dome in Leicester Square.
“I could stare at him for hours,” Zoe told us in 2017. “He’s so beautiful and talented. We had a lot of fun together. But as far as a serious relationship goes, we haven’t done that yet. We’ve been through a lot as friends.”
The Royal Wedding And After
Zoe and Robert made a very private wedding day in May 2019. The ceremony was followed by a glamorous celebration at the Royal Hotel in Windsor. The invite-only event was attended by a number of A-list celebrities, including David and Victoria Beckham, as well as the couple’s famous friends including Kristen and Williston. While Meghan, Duchess of Sussex made a speech to congratulate the newlyweds, the bride and groom were too busy kissing to respond.
After the ceremony, the newlywed couple left for a stroll down the aisle, with the guests following in a mini car parade. Guests at the wedding described the moment as “perfection”.
In the months that followed, they were often sighted holding hands and cuddling during private moments. Later that year, they were snapped kissing as they arrived at a Paris Fashion Week party hosted by Emily in Paris. It was here that we saw the first glimmerings of what was to come. “He’s the perfect gentleman. He treats her with the utmost respect but also wants to have fun,” a source told us at the time. “They are both deeply in love and very happy together.”
Is This A Thing?
Whether or not this is a trend that will catch on remains to be seen. So far, it seems that only the most affluent celebrities can afford to indulge in such luxuries. Still, it’s an innovative approach to a ‘wedding day selfie’ that sees two celebrities embrace while holding an engagement ring between them. We might even see more of these ‘flashy’ moments in the future.
Regardless, it appears that Robert and Zoe are determined to make their relationship work and are keen to explore the possibility of marriage. “They really want to be together,” a source told us in October 2019. “They are both ambitious and committed individuals who want to make the most of their time together. They see marriage as a great possibility.” The insider also suggested that it could be “a very traditional and conservative” option for the couple. “But they are both very happy and at ease with who they are, so that might not be a problem.”
