Walking into a room with Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner feels like entering an exclusive gentlemen’s club. The smell of fresh wood, leather and expensive-smelling candles fill the air. Big-game hunters, fashion insiders and movie stars rub elbows with each other in the living room of multi-millionaire bachelor pad in Bel Air.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Robert in a movie. The Twilight superstar has largely stayed out of the limelight since the conclusion of his blockbuster movie franchise. He hasn’t shied away from social media, however, keeping up with his 1.6 million Instagram followers and nearly 400,000 on Twitter.
With 2019 about to begin, the 38-year-old finally seems set to return to the big-screen with a bang. While promoting his upcoming film Mad Hippie, he spoke about his new role as a father and what movies he’s looking forward to watching with his kids.
Working On A Multi-Billion-Dollar Film Franchise
Robert revealed that he is in the early stages of development on a new film franchise. “I’ve been working on this for a while and I think it’s going to be an amazing project,” he said. “It’s very original and I can’t wait for people to see it.”
Asked if anyone in particular inspired the project, he replied, “One of the main writers, who will go unnamed, was kind of inspired by the ‘70s and ‘80s. He had a whole world in mind when he was writing it, and I think it’s going to be something different and special.”
Working on a film franchise is certainly an exciting prospect for a filmmaker, but it’s also a challenge. It takes a lot of time and planning to ensure that every movie in the series is of a high enough quality to stand out among other film entertainment. At this point, it’s safe to assume that Robert is going all-in on this project, putting his acting career on hold to focus on making the best possible movie.
A Film Father’s Role Is Different Than A Non-Film Father’s Role
While Robert is committed to being a father and spending time with his kids, his approach to parenting is different than most people’s. “One of the things that surprised us [about becoming parents] is that it isn’t like you see in the movies, where the dad does all the parenting,” he said. “It takes a village – we really enjoy having other parents help out with the kids so they can have some time off. It’s a real team effort.”
Since their separation in 2015, Taylor has been raising their children in Beverly Hills with the help of their families. The former couple has been busy establishing new connections in the community, supporting various social causes and attending fundraisers with their children.
Although it’s been a trying time for them as a couple, Robert and Taylor are determined to be a better example for their kids than the divorce courts. “It’s a lesson that they need to learn, that it doesn’t have to be like this,” he said. “It’s not about what we need, it’s about what they need and what they learn from us.”
Robert’s Picks For 2019
Robert’s top picks for upcoming movies are certainly no surprise. He has a tendency to keep his options open, exploring new genres and directors, so it’s not surprising that he’s interested in seeing what new talent has to offer. Not one to shy away from a challenge, he’s also looking forward to working with an all-female directing team on the upcoming Baby Boss. Finally, he admits to being a big fan of superhero movies, so he’s clearly not lacking in interest when it comes to the genre.
While we may not see Robert Pattinson on screen for some time, his influence and continued presence in the entertainment world is certain to have an effect on future generations. Already, the director of photography on Mad Hippie is a retired Sony Picture camera operator whom Robert credits with helping him get into the film industry. If Sony Pictures is to be believed, then it seems that Robert’s dream has come true.
