After almost six months apart, it’s as if yesterday never happened. Just over a month since the pandemic broke out, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were seen enjoying one another’s company once again. On May 26th, the couple was photographed leaving Stewart’s Los Angeles home, where they had been staying since the beginning of the year. As they were departing, cameras followed their every step, including the one where they gave each other a quick peck on the cheek. Later that evening, they were photographed attending the Cannes Film Festival Gala. Though they attempted to keep a low profile, they couldn’t help but be recognized. Inevitably, fans threw roses at them as they left the afterparty, with some even shouting “Kris, I love you!” The next day saw the pair enjoy another public display of affection as they walked hand in hand towards an afternoon tea. The English actor and his on-screen lover were also spotted entering a recording studio in New York City together, which is where they were photographed discussing their work. At the end of June, Stewart confirmed that their next project would be a ‘reimagining’ of Prada’s women’s t-shirt collection, adding that they would also be designing a capsule collection of their own. The designer later hailed the collaboration as ‘fantastic’.

In the meantime, other stars stepped up to help their fellow actors during the pandemic. While on the red carpet at the 62nd Annual Academy Awards, Emma Stone offered to let Stewart borrow her dress for the evening. The Two Hearts band played one of the most beloved songs of the ‘90s, “I Don’t Want to Love You Anymore,” as the cinematography department of the Academy held a flashmob on Hollywood Boulevard. More recently, Demi Lovato paid tribute to Stewart by posting a photo on Instagram of the pair’s costumes from Dune, with the caption: “So proud of my friend @kristenscott for being such an incredible woman.”

The Future Of Their Relationship

When asked about their 2021 plans during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Stewart revealed that she is “looking forward to [their] next collaboration” and that they have ideas for “both a clothing collection and a play.” As for their personal lives, she said that they have “a lot of exciting projects” in mind and are “really looking forward to doing [their] part” in shaping the future of their relationship. When asked if they would give a wedding anniversary present to their fans, she responded: “Maybe we’ll surprise them. Who knows?”

Though the couple is focused on their individual careers, they have expressed interest in working together once more. While promoting her new movie, Life Inc., in March 2021, Stewart opened up about their past collaborations and how they interact with their fans. “For the most part, we’re both very guarded individuals, very private,” she said. “I feel like I’ve gotten better over the years at being more open and vulnerable… But there are still plenty of walls inside of me. We both still have a lot to learn about trusting and being more vulnerable, so I think it’s going to be a process. But, as with anything in life, you get better with experience.”

What About the PANDEMIC?

In the months leading up to the release of their highly anticipated movie, The Half-Life of Stan Merton, journalists speculated over whether or not the couple would end up filming the movie in Italy, as the pandemic had forced them to stay home. Though they didn’t share any details about what happened during those six months, Stewart did reveal that the pandemic was “challenging,” but that they ultimately emerged stronger and more mature individuals. She also thanked doctors and frontline workers for their sacrifices during the pandemic. In the end, it was decided that the movie would not be shot in Italy after all, but instead in New York City. Fortunately, the pandemic didn’t halt the production of the film, which was released on March 27, 2021.

Despite the risks associated with the pandemic, it wasn’t all bad. In the months ahead of the film’s release, the number of tickets sold to see it more than doubled, from 12,500 to 29,100. In addition, box office sales were up by 70%, and the final worldwide gross was just over $60 million.

New York City And More!

The following year will see the couple continuing to grow their family, with the birth of their first child, a daughter, Agatha, in September 2021. Stewart previously stated that she and Pattinson had decided to have children “very early on” in their relationship. Despite rumors to the contrary, she has not yet given birth to their first child, as she has admitted that she is still in the “very early stages” of her pregnancy. At the moment, she is the only woman in the world who is aware that she is carrying another person’s child. Though they are low-profile individuals who rarely do interviews, Stewart has spoken about the moment she found out she was pregnant. “It was a moment of complete elation and joy mixed with complete shock and disbelief,” she said in an interview. “I thought maybe this was some kind of mistake.”

Having children will undoubtedly change their lives forever. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Stewart said that while she and Pattinson had planned to slow down a bit after the success of The Martian, “having a baby comes with its own unique set of demands!” She also admitted that she “didn’t quite know what [she was] going to do” with her newfound freedom. But as for the future of their relationship, she is optimistic. “I think that as we’ve gotten to know each other a little better and gained more experience, we’ll continue to develop and learn from our mistakes,” she said. “But I also think that we’re stronger now than we’ve ever been before, and that together, we can face anything.”
