Robert Pattinson In 2015: New Projects, Muffin Storm And More

The ups and downs of a year in the life of Mr. Robert Pattinson couldn’t be more evident than in the hundreds and hundreds of news articles that discussed his every move. From breaking up with his long-term girlfriend FKA Twigs to dealing with the paparazzi to starring in two fantastic films and finding a way to make them both work together, here’s a brief recap of the biggest news stories from 2014.

January

The year started with arguably the biggest story of the year when it was revealed that Twilight star Robert Pattinson had moved in with longtime love Maclaurin Austin. The two had been dating for two years and were incredibly private, so this story came as a shock to many. However, once the dust settled, it was revealed that while their romance was certainly unconventional, it apparently worked for both parties involved. In fact, they even worked together on an episode of Austin’s YouTube series ‘My No. 1 Girl.’ As for the 31-year-old actor, he was focused on his new relationship and didn’t respond to any interview requests at the start of the year (but we probably wouldn’t have heard any different, given how quiet he’s been in the media in general).

The year also saw the 31-year-old actor make no secret about his political beliefs when he tweeted his support for Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and condemned Russia’s aggression towards its neighbor. He even appeared in a YouTube video alongside Ukrainian singer Serhat to promote their country’s peace treaty with Russia. While we may never know just how committed he is to Poroshenko and Ukraine, it’s clear he’s passionate about international relations and frequently speaks out about it in interviews. We can only hope that he uses his platform to challenge the injustices he sees around the world and encourage people to join the peace movement. At least, we can pretend he’s doing it for our own good.

February

February saw the start of filming on Twilight’s final film, Breaking Dawn – Part 2. The movie will be released in November 2015 and will conclude the franchise’s seven-film adaptation of the popular Twilight series. While most of the cast and crew are already on set, principal photography on the final two films is set to begin in early February. While we won’t see the cast and crew together until the end of the year for the premiere of Breaking Dawn – Part 2, it’s clear they’re all working hard to bring the spectacular cinematic experience audiences expect from the Twilight franchise. While the final film will likely conclude the story line that began with Twilight in 2008, the fact that it’s the second part of a trilogy means there’s still plenty more to come. Twilighters around the world are no doubt excited about this news and looking forward to what Drew Bracmaier, the franchise’s screenwriter, has in store for them. We’re excited too, even if the studio heads at Summit Entertainment (the company that owns the Twilight franchise) may not be. This is becoming a worrying trend with them as it was reported in February that they were looking to reboot the franchise after the massive success of the first film in 2008. Thankfully, fans have spoken. They said no and apparently Mr. Bracmaier and Mr. Pattinson heard them. We’ll have to wait and see what Mr. Bracmaier decides to do with his newfound freedom. For now, we can only hope he lives up to the hype surrounding his involvement with the Twilight franchise and delivers another amazing story that brings the laughs and the tears in the right order. This time, they’re saying no to a reboot and saying yes to something wonderful.

March

In March, it was announced that director and actor Rob Reiner was set to executive produce the HBO Max series The Room With A View, based on the critically acclaimed 1982 Frank Capra film of the same name. While the majority of the creative team behind the series made their names in television, with shows like Matador!, Sex and the City and The Larry Sanders Show, Reiner is no stranger to the big and small screens. He made his debut as a writer and producer with the 1992 Stephen King miniseries The Stand, and went on to direct and executive produce numerous films and TV shows, including It’s Complicated, Charlie’s Angels, Capricious and The Princess Bride. What many people might not know is that The Room With A View is Reiner’s personal favorite among his many projects. It was recently voted the greatest film of all time by the British Film Institute. With the show set to premiere in 2020, we can only hope Reiner decides to make some exciting news about the show soon. As for Mr. Pattinson, the month was a busy one for him. First of all, he wrapped principal photography on the sci-fi thriller Maps to the Stars, which he also co-wrote and co-produced. Then, he traveled to South Africa to shoot the second season of the Amazon Prime Video series The Wilderness, in which he plays a professional hunter who travels to Africa to capture a series of animals for a British aristocrat. In early April, he attended the Royal Asiatic Society’s annual dinner and awarded fellowship to acclaimed Australian musician, songwriter and producer Bernard Allen. The prestigious honor is given to individuals who have made a significant impact on Asian culture. Finally, Mr. Pattinson traveled to Italy in April to shoot the latest season of The French Twist, the glamorous big-city saga that he co-stars in alongside Caroline Michel. Even more exciting news is that Netflix’s The Witcher will be released on December 20, 2019, a little more than a month after The French Twist season 4 premieres. We can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store for Mr. Pattinson. It’s been a while since we’ve had something to look forward to, what with all the cancellations and delays that plagued his career in the past year. We hope that his busy schedule this year doesn’t cause him any stress, and that he enjoys the ride while he can. We especially hope that he finds the time to work on some new music, as we haven’t heard any new tracks since 2013’s incredible In Between Dreams. If he does decide to release a new album, we know exactly what album we’ll be buying. It’s always great when a star decides to share their passions through their art, as it adds so much more value to their music. It really is the little things that count.

April

In April, it was announced that Mr. Pattinson would be joining the cast of Blackthorn, the big-budget fantasy film that will star Daniel Radcliffe and was directed by Jamie Thraven. Mr. Pattinson will play Martin, a mysterious magician who can bring the dead back to life. It’s set in an England where magic is real and magical creatures roamed the earth long before Harry Potter made his appearance. Thraven commented: “I’m thrilled to have Robert Pattinson on set. Not only is he an incredible artist, but he also has that fantastic, dry wit that makes him such an engaging interviewee. I’m looking forward to spending some time with Martin, and I bet you are too.” While Mr. Pattinson has been relatively quiet in the media this year and only appeared in a handful of short interviews, this news will no doubt cause much excitement within the Twilighter nation. As for the actor, he’s been keeping very busy this year and didn’t have much free time to join the acting community, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t enjoy himself. In fact, he frequently attended film screenings and appreciated everything about them. He said: “Going to see films is one of my main pleasures. I like being able to engage with and be inspired by creative story-telling. It’s great when the elements of a film work in unison to create a very cohesive and impactful whole. I particularly enjoyed the shorts program at the Tribeca Film Festival, as it allowed me to see amazing films that I might not otherwise have gotten the chance to see, while also featuring work from some of the best filmmakers in the world. I loved being able to spend time with some of the artists behind the magic of cinema.” While Mr. Pattinson clearly enjoyed himself on the set of Blackthorn, it’s unfortunate that the film was delayed until 2021 and it remains to be seen if it will ever see the light of day.
