It was recently revealed that Robert Pattinson may have dipped his toes in the ‘adult movie’ scene, with his appearance in the highly anticipated ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ (2019).
The ‘Twilight’ actor was filmed during the ‘King of the Monsters’ press tour presenting a now-viral picture with a barely concealed grin. Although the image was intended to be kept secret, it was leaked online and has since gone viral, amassing over 15 million views as of this writing.
Pattinson’s participation in the ‘Godzilla’ franchise was confirmed in a statement from Legendary Pictures, who noted that he would play a “major UK character with significant impact” in the film. This is the first time since his appearance in the 2015 film, ‘Cosmo’, that we’ve seen Pattinson don’t wear his eyebrows, as his face was fully covered by makeup in ‘King of the Monsters’.
The ‘Twilight’ actor has already starred in two adult films, ‘Underage Wasteland’ (2014) and ‘Lustful Behavior’ (2015), and has been the target of many online jokes about his love of adult films. However, aside from his brief appearance in ‘King of the Monsters’, it’s been nearly a decade since we’ve seen the ‘Twilight’ actor in an adult film. Has Pattinson really changed his ways, and is this just another publicity stunt to generate interest in ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’?
The Making Of ‘Underage Wasteland’
Pattinson’s 2014 film, ‘Underage Wasteland’, marked his debut as a director, and was co-written by the ‘Twilight’ actor. It’s been six years since we’ve seen Pattinson in a leading role, and for those who’ve been following his career, it’s been a long time coming. Despite his relatively young age, Pattinson has already honed his skills as a director, writer, and producer, having worked on the films ‘Highway’ (2012), ‘Remember Me? (2013) and ‘One For The Money’ (2019).
‘Underage Wasteland’ tells the story of Dylan (Pattinson), a high school senior who’s struggling with his identity. One day, while out on a romantic quest for his girlfriend Sabrina (Emily Browning), he stumbles upon a secluded estate where he encounters a group of dangerous criminals, led by the twisted Mr. Wolf (Willem Dafoe). The criminals assault and sexually assault Dylan, branding him with the letter ‘O’ in a scene that serves as a grim metaphor for the bullying and harassment that many men experience on social media platforms like TikTok.
Pattinson and Browning’s on-screen chemistry is electric, and while the film is more of a character study than an explicit sex romp, it’s an immensely entertaining film, as well as a metaphor for the way that men are often reduced to caricatures on social media.
Why Is Pattinson Interested In Porn?
Since breaking big in the Twilight series, Pattinson has been in a number of high-profile films, garnering critical acclaim and box office success. However, his film career has not been without its controversies. For example, the actor was accused of being ‘overpaid’ after complaining about his salary in a 2014 interview. The backlash he experienced prompted him to issue an apology.
Pattinson, who was born to actor parents in London, has also had his fair share of off-screen drama, which has undoubtedly helped fuel his public reputation. He’s had relationships with co-stars (most notably with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in 2015’s ‘The Revenant’), and was briefly linked to model and singer Ariana Grande in 2016.
Pattinson In ‘Cosmo’
‘Cosmo’ is the 2015 film that established Pattinson as a leading man; it’s also the first time that we’ve seen the ‘Twilight’ actor in a leading role since 2012’s ‘Highway’. The film, which was shot in less than a month for a budget of only $5 million, tells the story of a young man named Cosmo (Pattinson) who seeks to avenge the rape and murder of his wife and unborn child. Aided by his friends, Jake (Chris Pine) and Amy (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley), he sets out to destroy the criminals who killed his family. During production, the cast and crew worked tirelessly to make each scene as realistic and terrifying as possible. One of the great things about ‘Cosmo’ is that it blurs the lines between reality and fiction, as the majority of the scenes take place in a dreamlike cyber-space.
Although ‘Cosmo’ was a successful film on the marketing and distribution fronts, it only made $26 million at the box office, and was widely panned by critics. The film currently holds a 17% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and while it was met with generally favorable reviews from audiences, it wasn’t enough to save it from being a box office bomb. Despite the lukewarm reception that ‘Cosmo’ garnered, it’s arguably still one of the most interesting and exciting films of the past decade, and for good reason: it’s a bold, original take on the superhero genre that would go on to inspire countless other films.
Pattinson In ‘King Of The Monsters’
Pattinson’s next film was the 2019 monster movie, ‘King Of The Monsters’, in which he plays the lead role of Joe, a disgraced professor, who after a chance encounter with a creature, begins an unexpected and thrilling journey that changes his life forever.
The film, which was directed by Michael Fassbender, is the first installment of a proposed series of Godzilla movies. While the plot of ‘King Of The Monsters’ is rather thin, it mainly focuses on the characters of Joe (Robert Pattinson) and his wife, Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard). This is a world premiere, and as such, there were plenty of high-profile guests, including Kate Winslet, Javier Bardem, and more. The presence of the A-list guests didn’t hurt the box office performance of ‘King Of The Monsters’, as it became the highest-grossing film of the year, at least in its first week.
While most of the film takes place in a snowy London, Joe makes a brief (and rather uneventful) appearance in a California desert. The scene was filmed in an actual California desert, and Fassbender noted that it took over 12 hours to get the right lighting. While the finished product is rather beautiful, it would have been great to see more of the California desert in the film.
Once again, Pattinson was chosen for his iconic looks, and it’s hard to argue with the results: the film is truly stunning. Having been sidelined for so long, it’s wonderful to finally see Pattinson back on the big screen, and in a role that he truly believes in. The actor put in an excellent performance as Joe, and for the first time in a long time, we’re actually intrigued to see what else Pattinson has up his sleeve. Fassbender said that they would definitely be making more movies together, and it wouldn’t be surprising if the director returns to select Pattinson for another starring role.
It was recently revealed in an interview with Vogue that director Guy Ritchie and actor Johnny Depp were interested in casting the ‘Twilight’ actor in an “austere” role. Although neither man mentioned ‘Godzilla’ by name, Ritchie did say that he and Depp would like to see Pattinson play a “charismatic, strong silent type,” like Marlon Brando’s character, Don Juan, in ‘On The Waterfront’ (1954).
With his two most recent films being box office hits, it’s clear that the ‘Twilight’ actor is more than deserving of a break, and we can’t wait to see what future projects he has in store. In the meantime, we’re more than happy to indulge in some virtual reality porn (not that there’s anything wrong with that). If you’re looking for an iconic performer to embody an intense, intimidating sex appeal, we’re confident that we’ve found the best candidate. And let’s face it: nobody does it better than Mr. Pattinson.
