Few stars can match the on-screen magnetism of Robert Pattinson. The 26-year-old British actor is most famous for his portrayal of the vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga films. The series, which began with Twilight in 2008 and continued with New Moon in 2009 and 2011’s Eclipse, has made him a megastar, winning him international fans and accolades.

Since the third film, Eclipse, was released in 2012, the actor has largely avoided the spotlight, opting to work on a low-profile. He’s since worked on producing and starring in the independently financed Bad Liar, which recently wrapped up its UK premiere at the London Film Festival. The coming months will see Pattinson appear in the psychological thriller Pattinson and in the sci-fi actioner Damion Scott. He’s also set to produce and star in a series of shorts for Netflix titled Badlands, based on the graphic novel of the same name by Warren Ellis and Cully co-written by Ellis and John McFarlane. And last but not least, he’ll be seen on-screen in the upcoming fantasy adventure Pattinson and the Great Game, based on the popular book series The Elder Scrolls by Bethesda Softworks.

The Dark Knight Rises

It was previously reported that Benedict Cumberbatch had turned down the role of the legendary Sherlock Holmes in the sequel to Robert Downey Jr’s The Dark Knight, due to scheduling conflicts with the BBC’s Sherlock program. It remains to be seen if Cumberbatch reconsiders, as Matt Reeves’ take on the Batman saga is now officially titled The Batman and will star the actor in the role of the famous detective in an upcoming 2020 release.

The Shining

It’s been a big year for Stanley Kubrick fans, as the director’s classic The Shining has finally been adapted for the big-screen, with a talented ensemble led by Jack Nicholson and featuring Shane Black’s script, adapted from Stephen King’s novel.

The film, which premiered earlier this year, follows the tragic journey of Jack Torrance (Nicholson), who is hired to be the caretaker of the mysterious Overlook Hotel. Torrance’s ambitious wife (Shelley Duvall) and his adolescent son (Joe Turano) join him on his travels, which are ruined by Torrance’s increasingly erratic behavior and the murderous ghosts that seem to haunt the hotel and its staff.

Black Mirror

Netflix’s Black Mirror is a Netflix original series that follows a number of strange incidents in the lives of the people living in a fictional English county. While some may find the series dark, it actually takes a comedic spin on the darker trends that emerge from the global pandemic. The first season, which was released last year, largely revolves around the idea of online dating and its effect on young people. One of the series’ standout episodes is titled Dating My Son, which sees a middle-aged man attempt to find romance with a younger woman. He eventually gives up after she humiliates him on-camera in front of her friends. She then proceeds to eat the chocolate in his confectionary, which the series is often known for. In another Black Mirror episode, titled Sex Education, a teenage girl begins teaching her friends about sexual politics, before eventually teaching them a lesson themselves, when they rebel against her.

The Kidnapping of Laura Palmer

Last but not least, let’s not forget about the great American icon and social media sensation Laura Palmer. The 25-year-old mother of two was kidnapped while walking home from her yoga class in Seattle, Washington, in December 2019. Palmer was eventually found unharmed, but her captors, who were never found. The incident gained worldwide media attention and forced Palmer to take a break from her social media platform, which has over 3.5 million followers on Instagram.

After the incident, Laura Palmer’s Instagram account began to see a huge surge in followers and continues to grow. The account is used to spread health and wellness messages as well as to update fans on her progress during her recovery. The account creator did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
