He also had a recurring role on Arrested Development as the younger version of Michael Ginsburg’s character, and has guested on The Handmaid’s Tale, M*A*S*H*, and The Walking Dead.
2. His father was an alcoholic.
Robert Pattinson was born in London on May 10, 1986. His father, David, is a painter and DJ, and his mother, Trudie, is a photographer. Their parents’ relationship was volatile, and when Robert was only four years old, his father left the family. Robert grew up with his mother and his older brother Luke in a small house in Belgravia. Although his parents tried their best to be there for Robert, especially after his father left, they both had their own careers and couldn’t always make it to his gigs. His mother has famously said, “I had to fight to keep him off social media—he was addicted to his phone before it was fashionable.”
3. He is a trained chef.
Alongside his acting career, Robert Pattinson is also a renowned chef. In 2015, he opened up his own cooking school in London, offering a class called “Culinary Artistry”. In 2017, it was revealed that the British actor was in therapy for several years, mainly dealing with issues stemming from his father’s absence. He discussed the stigma that still surrounds talking about mental health issues, saying, “If I speak about it, will people think I’m weak? Or will they think I’m a victim? I’m sure there are times when I appear weak, but I hope that comes from my reluctance to speak about my experience as a kid. I didn’t feel I could talk to anyone about it then, and I still don’t feel comfortable talking to people about it now.” He has since spoken about how therapy has helped him to understand his emotions and how he can express himself better. While he doesn’t see talking about his experiences as being weak, he does feel that there is still a lot of stigma surrounding mental health issues.
