Robert Pattinson’s marriage to FKA Twigs was one of the biggest celebrity Weddings of all time. The British actor received marriage proposals from both Jennifer Lawrence and Karl Lagerfeld, and fans couldn’t help but be dazzled by the celebrity event.
But what happens after the wedding ceremony? Does Mr. Pattinson continue to be Mr. Pattinson, or does he adopt a new identity and start a new family? HollywoodLife.com spoke with experts about how the wedding affected Mr. Pattinson’s personal life and career, and we’ll tell you what we know so far.
What Does Mr. Pattinson Eat?
If you’ve been following the recent news stories about Robert Pattinson, you might have heard that the actor is struggling with his personal habits. He reportedly stopped taking care of himself and started relying on fast food and takeout, which showed up in his social media posts. In January 2018, the actor entered a treatment program to fight his unhealthy eating habits and get back on track.
While in the program, Mr. Pattinson is said to have gained 15 pounds and decided to adopt a plant-based diet. As a result, his Instagram has started to look a little bit like a foodie Instagram, with lots of pictures of colorful salads and plant-based desserts.
Now that he’s emerged from treatment, fans are eager to see how Mr. Pattinson’s dietary changes will affect his career. Luckily, we have some answers — at least, they would like us to think they do. In the past few months, several publications have published interviews with the actor in which he’s dropped a few bombshells about his future diet and fitness goals. Let’s take a look at what we know so far.
The Role Of Therapy In Mr. Pattinson’s Recovery
While speaking with Rolling Stone, Mr. Pattinson opened up about his eating disorder and the role of therapy in his recovery:
“I think the main thing is just talking to people who’ve got more experience than me,” he said. “And just getting over my own insecurities around food, which is something I’m still working on. And understanding that this is a thing that happens and that one day I’ll look back on this and be like, ‘Wow, I really did struggle with this.'”
The actor went on to explain how he works through his anxieties by drawing on his own experiences. He described therapy as “extremely important” and said that it helped him understand his problems and give him the tools to address them. He also credited his eating disorder with forcing him to grow up and become a more mature individual:
“I think that the last year has made me grow up a lot. And it’s forced me to be more mature and realize what’s important to me — like my family and my health,” he said. “I think that doing this [journaling] has been extremely important just to grow up and appreciate my own health a little bit more. Because a lot of my problems come from not taking care of my health — from being on the road for so long, and not eating properly and not sleeping enough. So I think it’s more important for me to take care of myself now, and do the things that will make me feel better.”
As we previously mentioned, Mr. Pattinson has been posting a lot of pictures of colorful salads and vegan desserts to his Instagram, which is already a testament to his commitment to a plant-based diet. To further prove his dietary shift, the actor launched his own line of vegan meats last year, named Good Food, that he co-branded with French luxury goods company Saint Laurent.
Whether or not Mr. Pattinson will continue to follow a plant-based diet is yet to be seen. But one thing is for sure: the actor’s fans will certainly be happy to help him lose those extra pounds.
Is Mr. Pattinson Changing His Name?
Another thing we know is that Mr. Pattinson has decided to change his name. In a 2019 interview with Rolling Stone, the actor revealed that he has rebranded himself as “Robby” — in honor of his mother, who died last year:
“I decided to change my name because it’s such a distinctive name and I want to keep it,” he said. “I also want to be known as Mr. Pattinson, and I think people will certainly start to see me more as that. But, you know, at the end of the day, it’s my name and I can do what I want with it.”
Fans will certainly be pleased to see Mr. Pattinson shed off the Robby persona and focus on his acting career. In the past, he’s admitted that he struggled with being typecast as a brooding, eccentric loner, and he’s been vocal about the fact that he prefers the roles that give him the opportunity to be more sociable.
The actor recently starred in the musical film First Wives’ Club, which is centered around a group of modern women dealing with marital issues. He plays a supporting role as Gabe, a love interest for one of the leads, played by Michelle Williams. The film is directed by Nancy Messingham, who also helmed one of Mr. Pattinson’s prior efforts, The High Cost of Living, which was released in 2016.
While working with Messingham on First Wives’ Club, Mr. Pattinson said that he felt more comfortable in his own skin and discovered his “wonderful, wonderful” personality that he didn’t quite know he had. He went on to praise the film industry for embracing women’s perspectives, saying that he hoped his experiences in the film would help encourage more women to enter the field.
With all of this in mind, it’s pretty apparent that Mr. Pattinson is doing everything in his power to move forward into a clean slate. It’s hard to say what the next chapter of the actor’s life will hold, but one thing is for sure: his fans want to see him succeed.
