In February 2019, Pattinson released his second studio album, Black, which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart. It marks his first solo album in six years and, fittingly, was released on Valentine’s Day. The British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, who collaborated with Pattinson on five of the album’s 11 tracks, said that it’s “an artistic and musical triumph.”
Less than a month later, Pattinson hit the big screen in the form of a mini-series. He starred alongside his Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart in the BBC Two drama series Wolf Hall, which explores the lives of William and Anne Bullock, the parents of Oliver Cromwell. The series also stars Paul Howard, Hugh Laurie, and Ben MacKintosh. The six-part series, which aired in January and February 2019, was a critical and commercial success, winning several awards, including the BAFTA for Best Mini-Series. The actor will portray the villainous Erudite leader Stephen Fitz-John, and is set to join the previously announced cast, including Ansel Elgort, Adrien Brody, and Lucy Fry.
