Did you know that Robert Pattison – a.k.a. “R-Pattison” – hates Twilight?

Well, it’s true. The actor and director detests Stephenie Meyer’s vampire franchise and has gone so far as to publicly state so. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pattison said this about Twilight:

“I didn’t like the first Twilight. I thought it was a load of rubbish. I never read the books. I just heard about them. I thought they were a load of bollocks.”

While it’s commendable that Pattison is speaking out against a series he feels doesn’t represent him or his work, it’s a little surprising that someone of his caliber feels this way. After all, he’s not the only famous face in Hollywood who is ashamed to admit to loving Twilight. (We’ll get to the other famous names in a bit.)

The series has received some very vocal backlash from Twilight fans, and it seems like the dislike is mutual. Fans of the series have taken to Twitter to voice their distaste for Pattison and his interview. One user wrote, “Ugh, the guy who directed Closer and Seven wants to give advice on how to write a good novel? Fcking hate when talented people speak about literature.” Another added, “I get so frustrated every time a famous person shames another for liking a series. Those people need to shut up. #twilightfans.”

The ‘Magic’ Of Screen Memories

It’s important to remember that Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight saga isn’t just about vampires. There are two stories within the books: one tracks the struggles of the main protagonist, Bella Swan, to deal with her identity as a human in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by vampires, and the other follows the adventures of Edward Cullen as he attempts to teach the elusive Bella Swan about the delights of being a vampire.

While the first book was released in 2006, the second and most recent installment, Breaking Dawn – Part 2, was published in 2012. Since its initial release, Twilight has sold over 75 million copies worldwide and has been translated into over 40 languages. It has also been adapted into a feature film, a Broadway play, and an animated series. This phenomenal success is likely the reason why so many people are upset that Robert Pattison and other famous faces in Hollywood are ashamed to admit that they love this series.

Other Famous Faces Agree

It’s important to note that not every famous face in Hollywood hated Twilight. In fact, a number of A-list celebs have come forth and admitted to loving the series. Here are some of the most well-spoken individuals who have expressed their admiration for Twilight:
