This year we’ve been graced with some breathtaking scenery and the incredible talent of Robbert Pattinson.
The British model and actor graced the cover of Vogue Japan twice this year and can now be found gracing the pages of the famous fashion publication. He has also been featured on the runway and in commercials for Christian Dior, Escada, Ralph Lauren and more.
In November 2019, Vogue Japan dedicated a whole issue to Robbert, paying homage to his incredible talent and stunning looks. The fashion publication also featured a Q&A with the talented model, detailing his life as a high-fashion star.
The Rise To Fame
Pattinson was born in Bury St Edmunds, England in 1985. He went to school in Newcastle before heading to London to follow in the footsteps of his father Jim, an environmental lawyer. It was there that he first began his career in modelling, appearing in fashion editorials and campaigns for established brands like Burberry and Ralph Lauren. He also got his big break when he was selected to model a Burberry fragrance ad, featuring the beautiful actress Keira Knightley. She went on to become his patron and eventually his wife. In 2012, he walked the runway for a Victoria Beckham collection, adding to his already impressive resume.
The Wedding
On August 17, 2014, Pattinson married Knightley in an intimate ceremony. The couple had been dating for several years and had previously collaborated on the film The Duchess. The wedding dress was designed by Ralph Lauren and featured a lace and mesh veil. One of the most memorable moments of the wedding was when the newlyweds shared a passionate kiss as guests watched in awe.
The following year, they released their debut album, titled Darkest Before Dawn, a collection of heartbreak and love songs that earned them a five-star rating from critics. In 2019, they had their second child, a son named Flynn.
The Cover Shoot
The year 2020 saw a shift in Pattinson’s work, as we began to see more editorial work and advertising campaigns. He was featured on the cover of the renowned British fashion magazine Vogue, for which he has collaborated with the magazine on multiple occasions.
The first cover was for their Australia edition, shot by Annie Leibovitz. The model wore a beautiful black dress with intricate floral embroidery, alongside a matching hat designed by Miu Miu.
The next cover was for the French edition, shot by Patrick Demarchelier. For this shoot, he opted for a white suit with blue accents for added colour.
The Sustainability
Another significant part of Pattinson’s work this year has been work related to sustainability. He has appeared in campaigns for major brands such as Escada, Ralph Lauren, and Maison Martin Margiela, promoting zero waste and sustainability.
The actor’s environmental efforts have brought him to the attention of notable figures in the sustainability sphere, like the founder of TOMS Shoes, Blake Mycoskie. In 2019, he was named a ‘Woke Capitalist’ by GAP, a new UK brand dedicated to sustainable and ethical fashion.
The Designers
Pattinson has also collaborated with key designers this year, working with the likes of Marc Jacobs, Victoria Beckham, and Thierry Despont. He has graced the cover of Vogue Spain, shot by Albert Chan, and has appeared in advertising campaigns for Escada, Ralph Lauren, and Marc Jacobs.
Described as “the male model of the future” by Jacobs, Pattinson has cemented his place in the fashion industry this year, appearing in advertisements and editorials for some of the most recognizable fashion houses in the world.
