It was just over a year ago that everyone was abuzz with reports that the ‘Twilight’ couple had been spotted out on a romantic date night. The speculation was that the couple was finally taking the plunge and getting married. After nearly five years of dating, the rumors had turned into fact. The couple was finally tying the knot on October 18, 2014.’Twilight’ movie franchise alum Rob Pattinson and fashion star Kristen Stewart were married in a lavish ceremony at London’s Guildhall.
The couple made their grand appearance dressed in sleek, black suits, with Stewart wearing a white gown and Pattinson opting for a classic suit. Their wedding photos were met with rave reviews, and they were an undeniable hit. More than 300 guests attended the intimate ceremony, which was officiated by London’s mayor, Boris Johnson. The happy couple honeymooned in Italy, where they were joined by Stewart’s parents. They also spent some time in Ireland, the country of Stewart’s ancestry.
Since then, the ‘Twilight’ couple have remained relatively private. In fact, they haven’t even really talked about their marriage. But with 2019 now upon us, fans are wondering: what happened after their big day? Did the newlyweds settle down into a comfortable, traditional marriage? Or did things take a turn for the worse?
New Family Meets Old Friend
The newlyweds were first introduced to fans through a ‘Twilight’ movie in 2012, when Stewart played Bella Swan and Pattinson played her devoted boyfriend, Edward Cullen. The movie’s tagline was “a love so rare, it’s almost impossible to describe,” and the pair’s chemistry on screen was undeniable. It was clear that these two were made for each other.
Stewart had a successful career in film before she shot to fame as Bella, and she’s continued to land notable roles since then. She’s acted in such high-profile films as ‘The Twilight Saga: Ecliptic,’ ‘Knightrider,’ and ‘Clouds of Sils Maria.’ Most recently, she starred in and co-produced the historical drama ‘Fallen Angels.’
Pattinson, on the other hand, largely went unrecognized before he was cast in the ‘Twilight’ movies. He began acting at the age of seven and has starred in several ‘Bond’ movie franchises. Since then, he’s appeared in ‘The Hobbit,’ ‘Bad Santa,’ and ‘Paddington,’ among other major films. He also produced and starred in the independent film ‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse.’
The film’s co-writer and producer, Dana Carvey, said in an interview that when she met Stewart, “I noticed she smiled a lot. So I asked her, ‘Is that a smile or a grimace?’ And she said, ‘A grimace, actually. It’s a smile that you can’t pull.’ And I thought, ‘She’s a force to be reckoned with.’”

Sharing Parental Responsibility
It’s fair to say that Stewart and Pattinson didn’t exactly set out to have a traditional family. In an interview with Elle UK in June 2019, Stewart said that growing up, she and her twin sister, Grace, “spent a lot of time in our parents’ company.” While Grace went on to study architecture, Stewart chose to follow in her parents’ footsteps and studied business. She then started her own company, Flora Creative, which creates custom floral designs for weddings and other special events.
“I’ve always been quite driven and determined, and I think that probably stems from my father,” she said. “He was quite a fierce and powerful man. My mother is very nurturing and kind, and I think that it’s created the perfect balance in our household.”
It seems that Stewart and Pattinson are aware that they’re parents to a daughter, Luna, who was born in 2017. On a 2018 episode of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ the host asked Stewart if she plans to be a hands-on mother, given that Luna is a “mini-me” of her and Pattinson. Stewart replied that while she loves being a mother, she hasn’t yet grasped what it means to be a “hands-on” parent. She also added that she and her husband communicate with each other about parenting “nearly every day.”
Financial Responsibility
On the subject of financial responsibility, Stewart said in the same interview with Elle UK, “I think that’s a really important aspect. It’s not just about being a parent. It’s about being a partner and a parent. And I really strongly believe in sharing the load. This is very much a partnership, and we’re co-parenting. And I really strongly believe in supporting each other as much as possible, so that we can create the best life for Luna.”
While Stewart takes care of the finances of the family, it seems that Pattinson’s earning power makes him the more responsible of the two. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in April 2019, Stewart praised Pattinson’s “incredible” earning potential. “He has a very strong work ethic and is passionate about what he does,” she said. “The fact that he can support our daughter financially is just incredible.”
Pattinson doesn’t seem to get the credit he deserves. While he’s acted in some big-budget films (most notably ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘The BFG,’ in which he played the titular character), he largely went unrecognized before he was cast in ‘Twilight.’ Since then, he’s appeared in such high-profile films as ‘The Martian,’ ‘Joker,’ and the aforementioned ‘Guardians.’
Pattinson has used his considerable fame to his advantage. In 2012, he co-founded an NGO that provides education and employment opportunities in Africa. He also invested a huge sum of money in a vineyard and a winery in Italy. In 2019, he co-founded a micro-distillery in London, where he produces drinks including gin, vodka, and whiskey. It was this kind of responsibility that led to Pattinson, Stewart, and Luna’s involvement with the Young British Leaders’ Trust, a charity that aims to boost the careers of up-and-coming leaders from the UK’s black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities.

Although the couple have kept a relatively low profile since their wedding day, several high-profile affairs have followed. In September 2018, it was revealed that Stewart had cheated on Pattinson with her ‘Twilight’ co-star, Robert Pattinson. The singer has also been linked to French actor and musician Adrien Broner, who plays baseball for the Cincinnati Reds.
The most recent update on the status of the ‘Twilight’ couple comes from their representative, Mara Ostrov, who said at the 2018 CinemaCon in a statement: “Rob and Kristen are still very much in love and commit to each other highly. They share a deep understanding of what their daughter needs, and they are extremely confident that she will make the right decision as she gets older. They continue to support and love each other as much as ever and remain dedicated to their family.”
The statement was enough to silence the rumors. Despite the ongoing speculation, it seems that the twosome are happy and relaxed in their marriage. Perhaps they have learned from past mistakes and are enjoying domestic life with their daughter Luna.
