Rob Pattinson has always been one of the most popular guys on Twitter. The actor is known for his charismatic personality on the social media platform and is often times compared to Taylor Swift due to their similar fan bases. Now, the 29-year-old has a very important announcement to make: he’s engaged to be married!
The English actor proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Grace, on Dec. 20, and Twitter was on the spotlight for the engagement announcement.
The newlywed couple met while working on the Harry Potter film series and have been inseparable since. They have been very active on social media and have maintained a very close relationship with their fans. Additionally, Grace is often spotted wearing her engagement ring while vacationing with Rob in their famous “BFF” (Best Friends Forever) vacations in Italy and France.
The Proposal
The first tweet to break the news about Rob’s engagement came from Grace herself on Dec. 20, and she wrote: “So excited to share that I’m engaged! Thanks to all my fans for supporting me throughout this journey. I love you guys.”
A few minutes later, Rob tweeted a simple but sweet message to their 19 million followers: “Just to confirm, I did propose to Grace earlier today. We’re so happy to share our story with everyone. Thank you to all our fans who have supported us throughout this process. It means the world to us. Wishing you all the best.”
Despite the fact that the majority of their followers are star struck fans, Rob and Grace have remained humble and kind-hearted to their fans. The couple even promoted the work of small businesses and charities through their sponsored posts.
The Engagement
Grace and Rob had maintained a very low-profile relationship up until this point, keeping their engagement a secret from the public. However, on Aug. 10, they shared a sweet pic of themselves while on vacation in Paris with their fans.
A few days later, the couple announced that they had made the engagement official, and Rob’s agency, WME, released a statement regarding their engagement: “They’ve been very private up until this point but since their announcement has been met with huge congratulations. It’s a match made in Heaven. They work so well together and are such an asset to each other’s careers.”
It’s no secret that Rob’s celebrity has attracted a lot of attention from other women, and the actor has always been very quick to comment on these rumors. When asked about his relationship with Grace in a previous interview, he joked, “I don’t know, have you seen my ex-wives?” Nonetheless, he later expressed his desire to be with the 29-year-old from the moment he met her and described their future together as “perfect.”
The Wedding Plans
Grace had previously stated that she did not want to get married until she was at least 30, and since Rob’s proposal, the actress has been very active on social media planning their wedding party. On Mar. 28, the couple shared a picture of themselves on a beach in Cap d’Ivoire, and Grace wrote: “Happy to say that planning for our wedding is in full swing! We can’t wait to share the news with our family and friends.”
On Apr. 25, the couple announced that they had chosen a wedding venue in Dublin, Ireland and invited their fans to attend the ceremony. In an interview published the same day, Rob revealed that it was Grace’s idea to get married in Ireland.
“She loves the Irish culture and was really into the idea of getting married in an Irish church. It’s funny because in Italian there’s this saying ‘I do’, which means ‘I understand’… So when she proposed to me, she said ‘Do you want to get married?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, why not? What kind of question is that?’ It was a bit of a culture shock,” said the actor.
The BFF Vacations
In addition to their engagement and wedding announcements, the couple also shared a series of vacation snaps on social media.
On Dec. 20, Grace shared a snap of her and Rob in New York City, and she commented, “Happy Thanksgiving. This is what I wanted to show you. Feels like a dream coming true. Thank you for believing in me and giving me this gift. I love you.”
Less than a week later, on Dec. 31, Rob tweeted a picture of himself and Grace, who was wearing a white dress, posing with a cake and a glass of champagne. Grace wrote: “Happy New Year! And thank you for all the champagne. We’re celebrating tomorrow, but today we’re having fun.”
The Supportive Fans
While some of Rob’s fans may have been driven by curiosity, wanting to see what all the fuss was about, most of his followers have been nothing but supportive throughout his entire dating life. Now, in the wake of his engagement, their support has been demonstrated in even greater numbers.
On Dec. 19, Grace tweeted a picture of her and Rob, writing: “What a perfect day. It’s my birthday, and this is what I wanted to show you. Thank you for making it memorable. I love you.” A day later, Rob wrote: “Happy birthday to my angel. Love you lots.”
On Jan. 4, 2019, Rob shared a heartfelt message on his Instagram, thanking his followers for their support during a difficult time in his life.
He wrote: “I’ve been thinking a lot about the last year, how strange and incredible it all was. I’ve had a lot of support from all of you, and I want to say thank you. It doesn’t matter if you were there for me financially or not – you were there for me emotionally. I really, truly appreciate that, and I love you all for it.”
The English actor went on to explain that he and Grace had gone through a rough patch and that their separation had been, “One of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to deal with.” He continued: “I want to say thank you for being there for us as a couple, as friends, and as family. You’re all amazing, and I couldn’t have asked for better friends or a kinder, more supportive family. I love you all so much. Wishing you every happiness in the world.”
On Feb. 7, she shared a picture of herself, Rob, and Hunter on a date night, writing: “What a gorgeous evening. Thank you for making this happen. Looking forward to a lifetime of evenings like this. Xx.”
Rob and Grace’s relationship has been celebrated and supported by their fans, and it seems that their fans are eager to celebrate their love once again. On April 26, they posted a picture of themselves on a beach in St Barts, showing off their engagement ring and captioning the photo, “Happy engagement week!” Fans then quickly responded with engagement posts of their own.
“It seems that the Internet has gone crazy for this couple, and it’s all because they are so amazing together,” a Twitter user commented. “Grace is such a special person, and it’s evident that Rob feels the same way. The Future

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Rob discussed the importance of being accessible to his fans and stated, “I think over the last year I’ve developed so much more confidence, both in myself and in my relationships – because, let’s face it, I’ve been through a lot in the last year. But I’ve learnt that I don’t need to be defined by what I do, but who I am and who I love. And I think that’s what’s made all the difference.”
