It was love at first sight when Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart met at the Grand Prix Theatre in Paris in 2014. The spark that ignited the couple’s romance was not only their mutual admiration for each other’s work but also the idea that they could finally bring an end to the decade-long love/hate relationship that many of their fans have had with them. Since their first date, Rob and Kristen have been inseparable, traveling the world and making numerous appearances together. Unfortunately, their idyllic story had to end in the most epic of feuds. After years apart, Rob and Kristen finally called it quits in January and put an end to their three-year romance. As fans are well aware, their breakup was not without tension, and even today there are rumors swirling about. Which of these is true? We examine the evidence and update you on the latest developments.

The Proof Is In The Pics

In case you need convincing that these two are still in love with each other, just check out their social media accounts. The couple continues to share loving and supportive messages to one another, as evidenced by Rob’s tweet on behalf of Kristen in April 2016: “There are no words to adequately express my gratitude to @Kristenstewart for all that she does. Her kindness, beauty and sense of humor have made me a better man and father. I love you so much.” This is quite the opposite of what they both said about each other during their 2015 breakup, when their quarrels were publicized and took the media by storm. However, it seems that the world has changed, and now that they are back together, their feelings have not only matured but also deepened.

Was It Really All Lindsay’s Fault?

Even before they were an item, there was a lot of animosity between Rob and Lindsay Lohan. After Lindsay’s drug-related arrest in April 2012 and subsequent prison sentence, she was forced to take a backseat in her friends’ lives, and Rob eventually became the central figure. Their on-again, off-again relationship was documented in the tabloids, and it was usually Lindsay who ended up apologizing first. The two were even photographed attacking each other in a fight (above left); however, since then, they have proven to be quite the opposite of what their image suggested, both staying out of trouble and maintaining a mature attitude (h2 above right). Interestingly enough, after their fight in 2014, Rob decided to take a step back from his friendship with Lindsay. “I was really close to Lindsay when we were kids, and she’s still my friend. I just want to be there for her. I’m not really into being her friend’s shoulder to cry on,” he told MTV News at the time. So it seems that, while their past may still linger, their present and future are intertwined, and their romance certainly does not appear to be in jeopardy.

Why Did They Break Up In January 2016?

This is where things get a bit complicated. First of all, it wasn’t just the fame that attracted Rob and Kristen to one another. Although this would have been enough to make their romance stand out, the truth is that they have been close friends and colleagues for years. After completing their respective degrees and working hard to establish themselves in the acting world, Rob and Kristen met at the William Morris Agency, where they currently work. Both had just signed a big-name client, Rupert Sanders, and they decided to partner up. Sanders is best known for directing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and together the pair crafted a dark and twisted fantasy titled The Dark Crystal. While on set, Rob befriended the movie’s star, Billy Crystal, and after the shoot was over, the two continued their friendship. Crystal even invited them both to his daughter’s birthday party and, from there, the two became inseparable. It was clear that they had found a way to navigate the industry and would go on to become the industry’s power couple. In January 2016, their three-year romance finally ended, and fans immediately began questioning the circumstances surrounding their breakup. While some suspected foul play, it was actually just the culmination of a decade of hard work. According to several reports, Rob and Kristen had grown apart, with each individual going through their own personal hell. It started with Kristen acting strangely, and then the news broke about her drug addiction and arrest. This prompted Rob to take a step back and re-evaluate their relationship.

Was It Really All Because Of The Fame?

It’s been a tough ten years for both Rob and Kristen. Besides dealing with the problems that fame brings, the two also had to navigate the shifting sands of public opinion. Where once they were admired for their talent, they now find themselves the target of jealousy, scorn, and even hatred. It’s difficult to say whether this is because of the nature of their fame or their successful individual careers, but either way, it certainly didn’t help.

This prejudice has followed them both, and it was only a matter of time before the pair grew tired of the isolation that comes with being a famous celebrity couple. In January 2016, Rob and Kristen announced their separation, and just like that, their idyllic relationship was over. While some fans were relieved that the couple had finally decided to call it quits and started looking toward the future, others were, quite frankly, devastated. The twosome had managed to keep a lid on their emotions for so long, and they had finally found a way to be together, free from the public eye. Now that their romance is over, it’s back to business as usual for Rob and Kristen, with each navigating the spotlight independently. Now that they are back to being just friends, fans should expect to see them support and stand by each other as we’ve come to expect. While their personal demons may have torn them apart, their professional ambitions and loyalty to one another have brought them back together once more, and, as a result, they’ve become even stronger.
