Chris was born in Kent, England and grew up in a large family, with five other siblings. His father was a stockbroker and his mother, Pamela, is a descendant of Britain’s greatest hero, Sir Winston Churchill. In 2017, Chris was arrested in Los Angeles for punching a man in the face after a drunken row at a bar. According to the police report seen by TMZ, Chris was at the Sky Bar at the Sunset Marquis hotel when he began yelling and arguing with the bartender over the drink selection. Things soon turned violent when Chris punched the bartender in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. While the bartender was only slightly injured, Chris was charged with assault and battery. The incident was reported to the LAPD, who classified it as a misdemeanor.
The arrest came shortly after Chris was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Henry in The Lost Honour of Christopher Johnson. At the time of the incident and throughout his time dating Victoria, Chris was very much a gentleman, often taking the initiative to pay for tickets for others or buying drinks for friends.
