The British luxury brand has been around for more than 100 years and has become famous for their quilted leather vests. While some may still prefer to wear a simpler piece of clothing when going out for a drink or dinner, today’s generation favors the brand’s unique designs.

Classic Yet Sophisticated

This year marks the centenary of the founding of the Burberry company, which originally made the famous quilted leather vests. The British luxury brand continues to grow year after year, with 17 stores around the world, including five in the UK. It’s fair to say that Burberry has definitely not lost its magic and is still a favourite amongst celebrities and fashion icons. The British luxury brand was recently purchased by a French firm, and the CEO stated that the brand will continue to grow as it is now an international company.

Of course, this isn’t to say that all of their products are timeless. Certain pieces of clothing and accessories, especially around the 1960s, can be considered vintage pieces that will never go out of fashion. One of the most stunning examples of this are the famous quilted leather vests. While some may still prefer to wear a simpler piece of clothing when going out for a drink or dinner, today’s generation favors the brand’s unique designs.

Made In England

Burberry has always been synonymous with luxury items made in England. The brand is currently celebrating their centenary this year, and one of the ways they are doing so is by marking the occasion with a special collection of products. Many of the items are designed by famous British fashion designers and are made using traditional English methods such as copper fitting and saddle stitching. In addition to celebrating their centenary, Burberry is also launching a capsule collection of English Design that will be sold in their stores. These items are made using unique English fabrics such as Donegal Tweeds, thick tweed with a Donegal tweed pattern on it, and Galesier Pink, named after the town where William Morris first used this fabric in 1861.

These pieces of clothing are not just limited to jackets and vests. The designers have also used floral prints and tartan plaids in unique ways, creating something new that will no doubt become a talking point amongst fashion lovers.

Timeless As Ever

Apart from their enduring popularity, which has made them one of the most popular luxury brands, we need to remind ourselves that fashion is always subject to change. In our modern world, traditional ideas of gender and class are no longer as relevant as they once were. Not many people would wear a dress or a coat on the street anymore, preferring to dress according to current trends, and this goes for other luxury brands as well. In this sense, fashion is always moving forward, and this is reflected in the products that we choose to wear, which in turn makes it impossible to pinpoint any one style as being “in” or “out” of fashion.

Why Burberry?

Of course, we could simply look at the vest’s popularity and the range of options that they offer, but we should also remember the importance of a luxury brand in today’s world. The global economy is more balanced than it has ever been before, and we are seeing increased competition from low-cost brands who want to offer luxurious items to their customers. Inevitably, we are also seeing a decrease in prices across the board, with luxury goods being the hardest hit. This is why luxury brands will always have a special place in our hearts.
