If you follow celebrity news at all, you undoubtedly know who Kristen Pattinson is. The actress made huge waves when it was announced that she and her fiance, British comedian and writer Chris Hardwick, got hitched back in August 2017. Since then, she’s been relatively quiet, save for a series of Instagram posts sharing images of her and Hardwick celebrating Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
But what is Kristen Pattinson doing now? And what will she do in the future? We take a look.
Family And Education
Kristen was born in New Haven, Connecticut on October 10, 1989. She is the daughter of Jane, a former journalist, and Timothy Pattinson, a physician. Her mother is the niece of the late David Niven, the British actor and film producer. Niven’s sister, actress Joan, was also born in New Haven and played the role of Alexis in the 1991 film adaptation of A Streetcar Named Desire. The film won two Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
Kristen grew up in North Hollywood with her brother, James. She attended Harvard-Westlake School, where she was spotted by an agent and signed with William Morris Endeavor. After completing her undergrad in 2012, she relocated to New York City. It was there that she began her acting career, modeling for brands like Elle MacLeman and appearing in Off-Broadway plays.
While in NYC, she also began participating in talent searches, eventually winning the title of Miss Earth New York in 2014. She then moved to LA to continue her career, appearing in minor roles in films like Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and Ocean’s 8. More recently, she appeared in the first season of the hit Amazon television series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and was featured in the 2018 film adaptation of Little Women.
Career
While her acting career had been picking up steam, Kristen had recently made the decision to pursue broadcasting. She had interned for several years at various news stations, including CNN and the BBC. She most recently served as a reporter for MSNBC, where she covered the 2017 Republican and Democratic National Conventions for TV viewers across the country.
After graduation from college, she headed to London to begin her professional career. There, she covered culture and lifestyle for the Daily Telegraph and attended the elite Harrovian School. In 2018, she was named one of the top 50 most influential people on Instagram, with over 125 million followers. That same year, Vanity Fair named her one of the 40 best-dressed women on the internet. In 2019, Redbook magazine named her one of the 50 most stylish women in the world, and Elle named her one of the top 30 most influential people on the planet.
While she’s enjoyed a long and successful career thus far, it was only a matter of time before fame and fortune arrived. In 2019 alone, she was reportedly paid over £30,000 for a single Instagram post, with the most popular pictures reportedly earning her over £100,000 per year.
Chris Hardwick And The Evolution Of Twitting
While he’s been married to Kristen for less than a year now, Chris Hardwick already has a history with fame and fortune. He and his twin brother, Ben, launched their own podcast, The Smart Passive Guy, in 2014. The show’s popularity led to them gaining their own network, Quibi, in 2018. Hardwick is also the founder of the Nerdist podcast network, which was purchased by Legendary in 2016 for a cool $25 million.
Back in 2014, tweeting was considered slightly passé. Celebrities would share occasional status updates on their personal accounts, but the general population mostly interacted with friends on social media through traditional methods like texting and calling.
But that all changed in early 2015. That’s when Twitter broke ground by launching its own standalone app, introducing a whole new way for people to communicate and connect with the world around them. The app was such a success that in early 2019, Google purchased the platform for a whopping $20+ million. Since then, it’s become a central tool in everyone’s daily lives, especially as the world shifts to a digital sphere.
The Future Of Kristen
With fame and fortune comes the burden of responsibility. And it’s a burden that Kristen has embraced, using her platform to speak out against the sex trafficking that plagues the world (and the US). She co-founded the anti-trafficking nonprofit KARMA in 2018 and is an active presence on social media, using her influence to fight the good fight.
What will be the next step for Kristen Pattinson? We’ll have to wait and see. Her story is one of inspiration and perseverance, and we’re sure that she and Chris Hardwick will continue to do their bit to make the world a better place.
