It’s fair to say that there has been a lot of attention paid to the romantic pairing of Will and Kate this year, particularly since the speculation over whether or not they would ultimately get married. But while it would be easy to write off this year’s British Royal Wedding as just more media coverage, there is more to this story than first meets the eye. As it turns out, there is a lot more to the relationship between the Duke of Cambridge and her father’s girlfriend than we originally thought, and it goes far beyond the realm of media coverage and palace intrigue. Let’s take a look, shall we?
He’s Not Your Typical Foreign Prince
One of the most intriguing aspects of the story is William’s unusual and exclusive introduction to the British Royal Family. According to biographers close to the couple, William’s mother was very firm in her decision to break the royal tradition and allow a commoner to become Duke of Cambridge, and she was not about to compromise this decision, even after becoming Queen Elizabeth II, for the sake of her only son’s dating prospects. As a result, even before William had officially become the Prince of Wales, he had spent a significant amount of time meeting with and gaining an appreciation for the British Royal Family, particularly since he would eventually assume the throne of Great Britain. This is why it comes as no surprise that Kate Middleton chose to include William in her wedding party and included a reference to him in her vows. It is also the reason why William was chosen to be the UK’s representative at Kate’s wedding.
He’s More Than Just A Pretty Face
While Kate is undeniably beautiful and was undoubtedly the attraction that helped win William’s heart, it is important to note that he had other qualities that made him an attractive partner. For one, not many other men can pull off a beard as good as William’s. It’s been said that it takes an extremely thick layer of facial hair to look like a true gentleman. In fact, it has been claimed that William’s good looks were not the biggest draw for Kate, but rather his “down-to-earth, kind and humble nature.”
And while we’ve seen pictures of Kate as the epitome of a beautiful woman, it is important to remember that she has also been described as having a “bully-girl” streak in her. While she might appear docile and demure, in reality, Kate can be quite the opposite, and she’ll frequently challenge those around her, especially when she feels that she is being underestimated or taken for granted. She is also quite protective of William, and it’s been reported that on one occasion, when police officers tried to question him about a robbery, Kate intervened and started “shouting at the top of her voice,” scaring off the police and ensuring the safety of her son.
How Has The Dating Relationship Developed?
It’s been said that William began to court Kate after he had spent some time recovering from the death of his father, Prince Charles, in December of 2016. The Prince and his mother had been touring Australia and New Zealand as part of their Golden Jubilee, and when Kate decided to return to Cambridge for the Christmas break, William showed up at her door with roses and a bottle of champagne, eager to begin their “long-distance relationship.” Since then, it has been reported that the two have spent several nights a week together, with Kate sometimes staying over at William’s house in London. They’ve been seen holding hands in public, and even attended the wedding of William’s cousin Princess Amelia in January. Unfortunately, the two have not yet held an official engagement party, like other couples have done, but that hasn’t stopped the media from dubbing them “the next famous royal couple.”
What’s Next For The Royal Couple?
With the conclusion of the wedding season, it’s time for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to call it a day, but that doesn’t mean that their romance has ended. Rather, it means that they have one last event to attend together as a couple before Kate flies back to New Zealand, and William heads off to the South African safari retreat, Mfuwe. While Kate will no longer be in the UK for the birth of Princess Charlotte, William will be able to show off his impressive brood to the world, including the newest addition to the family, a baby boy. The family have also announced that they will be splitting their time between Norfolk and Cambridge, where William will continue his work as a Knight of the Realm and Kate will be staying with her parents, Michael and Carole, in their Cambridge home. After their first babymoon, William and Kate will begin work on their royal baby’s nursery, planning to have the crib made in New Zealand, where they plan to retire after their marriage. It’s safe to say that 2019 will be an eventful year for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
