In the blink of an eye, five weeks have gone by. The world was waiting with baited breath to see who would walk away with an Academy Award. While it’s been an eventful five weeks for the Oscars, it’s mainly been a blur of red-carpet appearances and magazine covers. So, to bring people back down to earth, let’s take a trip back in time a little bit and compare and contrast two of the biggest stories of the year.

Nina Schubert vs Robert Pattinson

When it comes to celebrity love stories, 2018 had two that stood out from the rest. One of them is the epic, headline-making romance between actor Robert Pattinson and singer-songwriter Nina Schubert. In fact, they were so enamored with one another that they held a record-breaking engagement party that was attended by over 1,200 guests. The event was so successful that it’s been credited with helping Pattinson land the role of Edward Cullen in the Twilight film franchise. If that weren’t enough, in April 2019, they announced that they were engaged again and would wed in October 2019. Since then, both their lives have been turned upside down.

While Schubert has been hailed as a new Beyoncé and referred to as the female James Bond, the 29-year-old star may have met her match in the form of Pattinson, who is 53 years her senior. We spoke with two renowned experts about whether or not Schubert will emerge victorious in the end.

The Expert Views

When it comes to celebrity baby bumps, it’s no secret that reality TV stars, famous actresses, and social media influencers are the ones who usually have them. In 2018, there were a variety of reasons why these three groups of women had babies right before or soon after their 39th birthdays. For the most part, it was either to follow their favorite lifestyle blogs or to prove to the world that age is only a number.

One of the biggest stories of 2018 was the sudden emergence of celebrity moms. These are women who have largely remained anonymous throughout their lives, but now that they’ve had children, they want to share their story. It was a trend that saw a rise in popularity particularly among Instagrammers and social media influencers. For instance, last year, Megan Jayne Crabbe became the first “influencer” to give birth to a son, Hank. Shortly thereafter, she announced that she was pregnant again and is currently expecting her second child. The 41-year-old mother posted an image of herself dressed in a white dress with the caption, “Yes, another son! Happy fatherhood.” Other famous mothers to have sons this year include Priyanka Chopra, Jennifer Lopez, and Sofía Vergara.

While some celebrity moms chose to keep their babies’ genders a secret, others didn’t. For instance, when asked if she would name her son after her husband, Stormi Webber, who is a TV personality on the U.S. show, The Handmaid’s Tale, replied, “Yep, I guess so.” Webber also revealed that she was pregnant with twins.

Another big story that emerged this year was what happened to Bella and Edward Cullen in Twilight. Before the release of the final movie in 2018, a scandal broke out when reports surfaced that actor Robert Pattinson was in a long-term relationship with Swedish singer-songwriter and actress Nina Schubert. The affair was so big that it made international headlines, and it also raised questions about whether or not the couple would ever get married. After months of hiding their relationship and dodging tabloid reporters, the pair finally came clean. In an interview with Vanity Fair, Pattinson stated, “I’ve never been married and I’ve never had anyone else’s child. I feel very happy and blessed that I can share my life with Bella.”

Although the two enjoyed a harmonious relationship with plenty of public displays of affection, their personal lives were still very much a secret. In the interview with Vanity Fair, Schubert revealed that she and Pattinson had initially planned to take their relationship slowly and privately. However, after he landed the role of Edward Cullen in Twilight, everything changed. “I knew that he would be on the lookout for a woman who could match his vivaciousness and joie de vivre,” Schubert said. “And, luckily, I met him years ago when I was 19 and he was 26. We clicked right away.”

So, will Nina Schubert be the 2018 Academy Awards winner? At this point, it’s looking like a foregone conclusion. In fact, the majority of celebrities and experts predict that she will walk away with the Orange, Golden, and Diamond Oscar. Here’s why.

Why Are People Betting On Nina Schubert?

To begin with, let’s address the elephant in the room: ageism. According to AARP, age discrimination is one of the most common forms of discrimination that people face. It’s particularly insidious because in most cases, the victims don’t even realize that they’re being discriminated against based on their age. This is mainly because older people are usually the ones suffering from ageism, and it’s very rarely addressed with any degree of sensitivity.

In 2019, we’re going to see a lot more celebrities pushing back against ageism. Starry Eyed, a non-profit that provides resources for children with cancer, is donating $50,000 in the form of a check to the winner of Project Runway, All Stars, and The Bachelor (all of which are age-restricted) to show their support. Designer Vivienne Westwood is also launching a capsule collection in collaboration with French fashion house Louis Vuitton that celebrates “the beauty of wrinkles”.

Aside from ageism, there are a variety of reasons why celebrity fans and experts are backing Nina Schubert. Here are some of them.

She’s Got The Voice

One of the main reasons why fans are backing Schubert is because of her voice. In fact, some people have even referred to it as “the best English voice in film since the ‘70s.” According to Vox, Schubert’s voice has been described as “vulnerable, haunting, [and] captivating,” and it’s largely attributable to her rich, raspy tone and her skill as a musician. Schubert studied voice at the Royal Academy of Music. She’s also a classically trained pianist, and she earned a master’s degree in music theory from the Royal Academy of Music. She’s even performed at the White House as part of the classical music series on more than one occasion. Simply put, on paper, she has everything necessary to become a successful singer. As a vocalist, she is compared to legendary singers such as Barbra Streisand and Marjorie Merriweather Post. She clearly has the talent, and now she just needs the right opportunity.

She’s Gonna Be In A Lot Of Movies

Another reason why people are backing Nina Schubert is because she’s going to be in a lot of movies. It doesn’t hurt that many of them are great films. Just this year, she’s appearing in blockbusters like Jigsaw, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, and The Goldfinch, as well as smaller gems such as The Personal History Of David Copperfield and The House Always Wins.

In terms of sheer quantity, it would be a major coup for Nina Schubert to win the Academy Award for Best Actress. The 29-year-old singer has said that she’s never worked so hard in her life, and she seems to be taking the opportunity seriously. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Schubert said that 2019 is going to be her year, and she’s not taking anything – not even the Oscars – lightly.

There’s also the chance that Schubert could win in more than one category. She’s up for Best Supporting Actress, too, for her role as Pattinson’s wife in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. The couple’s relationship was so well-documented that it probably wouldn’t be a huge surprise if they won in the same category. However, we’ll have to wait and see.
