If you’ve been following the news in recent months, you’ll undoubtedly have heard that British actor Robert Pattinson has been sporting a stunning new look; one which has caught the public’s imagination and propelled him to internet fame.

Pattinson’s unique blend of punk, goth and romance was on full display in 2017 when he appeared as the Dark Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, an immersive storytelling experience that allowed Potter fans to finally meet the character they’ve been following for years. His character’s outrageous outfits and eccentric behavior throughout the play were captivating, and apparently, a major factor in the theatre’s record-breaking attendance.

That’s not all Pattinson has appeared in, either. In November 2017, he wrapped production on Gucci’s annual holiday collection, which featured a bevy of gorgeous gowns and suits. It was a fitting location for the luxury brand, as they’ve previously collaborated on luxury knitwear and leather goods.

So it would seem that Pattinson’s time in the limelight is finally coming to an end. After a year of unprecedented success, will he able to walk the red carpet without being mobbed by fans? And will he continue to be covered in headlines regarding his private life?

Is This Suitable For A Married Man?

It’s been a year since we’ve seen Robert Pattinson, and just like every other year, the world’s media has gone into overdrive attempting to uncover some juicy details regarding the actor’s personal life. But while we’ve gotten used to sensationalism surrounding celebrity scandals, it seems that romance is not quite as compelling a story as breaking news.

Pattinson, who has been married to screenwriter Fanny Zhou for six years, was photographed canoodling with his rumored girlfriend, actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, in February 2018. Although they were eventually found at a Parisian hotel restaurant, the pictures made an appearance on the tabloid covers and sparked off a frenzy of speculation regarding their relationship. But while media outlets across the world scrambled to report on the budding romance, details about the nature of their relationship remained scarce. In particular, many were curious about how wedded Pattinson was going to be to the woman he supposedly married just a few months earlier.

The British actor has yet to comment on the speculation regarding his personal life, but fans of Potterhead are likely to see a familiar face when he does. Pattinson has admitted that the character of Voldemort was one of the toughest roles he’s ever played, and he looks set to continue acting in high-profile franchises in the coming year. But whether or not he’ll be appearing on the big screen, it seems that the spotlight will once again be fixed on the handsome leading man.

Newest Member Of The Royal Family Finally Makes Royal Debut

It’s been a long time coming, but in April 2018, the British monarchy welcomed a new addition to their family when Princess Eugenie’s engagement to Jack Brooksbank was made public. Brooksbank, who is the grandson of Lady Jean Astor, one of the Queen’s oldest friends and confidantes, became the fourth generation of the family to join the Royal Court. He is also a great-grandson of Andrew Carnegie, the industrialist and philanthropist.

Jack Brooksbank’s wedding to Princess Eugenie, the couple’s engagement which was announced three years earlier, was the long-awaited coming-out party for the royal family. The couple exchanged vows at St George’s Chapel in the presence of their families and close friends, and a month later Queen Elizabeth II bestowed upon the newlyweds the honor of a grand tour of the United Kingdom.

The tour, which also included stops in Ireland and France, was a chance for the newly wed to showcase their wedding gifts and for the British public to get a peek at the glamorous side of the royal family. Princess Eugenie looked radiant in a classic floor-length white wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton that was accented with lace and a bandeau. And while it’s never easy to see your beloved parent marry someone else, Princess Margaret looked resplendent in a lavender silk dress.

Sporting a more casual attitude as befits an everyday royal, Princess Victoria chose a green and yellow dress that was a replica of the historic tie that bound her and her brother, King George, together during the Abdication Crisis in 1936. The Duchess of Kent was accompanied by her daughter, Princess Alexandria, who wore a dress in the same vibrant tones as her mother, and her husband, Prince George.

For their first public appearance as a married couple, the monarchs were accompanied by their wives, who wore magnificent ball gowns. And though it might seem that Princess Victoria would be used to such treatment after her marriage to Prince Edward in 1960, it seems that this was a first for her, too. As she told The Telegraph, she felt like a “completely different person” and was awed by the public’s reaction to her marriage to the Prince of Wales: “It was a dream come true to marry the man I love, and to do it before my family and friends in such a beautiful and memorable way. I could not have envisaged a more perfect day.”

The couple made an appearance at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London that evening, where they were greeted by thousands of well-wishers. As the sun set, Princess Victoria, Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Alice, and Princess Alexandra headed to Buckingham Palace for a private banquet, while the rest of the Royal Family toured the Tower of London and its royal collection. The following day was spent mostly in London, where the newlyweds visited the city’s most famous landmarks. On April 20, the Royal Family traveled to Cambridge for the commemoration of the 450th anniversary of the university.

Richemont’s Shares Plunge After Bitcoin Crash

The year 2018 was a tough one for cryptocurrency. Although prices for the digital currency began the year at well over $20,000 per unit, it soon plunged to less than half that figure before climbing to more than $11,000 per coin. But while the public might have been attracted to the speculative opportunities that crypto-economics offered, those who actually needed cryptocurrencies for their daily activities found themselves struggling to afford the expensive technology.

Less than a month into the New Year, the Swiss-based group, RICHCNBT, announced that it was taking measures to protect the value of the U.S. dollar against the Canadian dollar by adjusting the rate at which it loans the greenback to Canada. The announcement came shortly after the company’s share price fell by nearly 12%, its largest one-day drop since 2014.

The company, which provides currency loans to businesses across North America, noted that the weakening Canadian dollar was preventing it from reaping the benefits of higher U.S. dollar rates. As a result, the firm had little choice but to lower its cost of borrowing in U.S. dollars. But while it might have been the case that RICHCNBT adjusted its rate to protect the value of its investment, it seems that the share price decline was merely a side effect of the larger cryptocurrency slump.

Bitcoin continues to be the biggest challenge to the dollar’s dominance in the global economy, and it’s not entirely clear which direction it will go in next. But it’s apparent that interest in cryptocurrencies remains high, especially as more and more investors seek to cash in on the booming market. And while it’s not always the case, it’s notable that as the interest in and prices of cryptocurrencies rise, so does the interest in high-end merchandise that is associated with the digital currency. In fact, one could easily make the case that the upcoming film, Downton Abbey: Carnival of Souls, which is focused on the Great War and features a number of high-end items, is in part motivated by the recent craze for all things cryptocurrency.

Carnival of Souls

Based on the best-selling novels by Michael Grant, who’s also written for the Royal Family, the 2018 film Downton Abbey: Carnival of Souls tells the story of Violet Crawley, who after her mother’s death, left her home in London for the relative calm and comfort of the country.

Violet’s father, Lord Grantham, a Liberal politician who stood firm in the face of King Edward VII’s crackdown on political opponents, is determined to keep the estate going, even as he battles to save the family’s financial and social standing. While he’s assisted in this endeavor by his daughter’s friend, Mr. Carson, a chauffeur who’s also an expert in horsemanship and marksmanship, he’s unable to protect her from the machinations of the twisted aristocrats who try to blackmail and humiliate him.
