There are some celebrity couples so famous that they transcend not only film but also social media. While most of us will never get the pleasure of seeing Kate and Wills’ adorable couples’ photography, we can always look to the stars for some inspiration.

One of the most iconic celebrity couples is undoubtedly Mia and Robert. The 30-year-old actress and the Game of Throne actor have been dating since 2010 and were married last year. After four years of living together, their intimate relationship was made public in 2017 after fans spotted them holding hands while walking downtown Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve. The media frenzy that followed made this celebrity couple a symbol of #metoo, and they’ve since spoken out about the importance of supporting victims of sexual abuse and assault. If you’re unfamiliar, Mia was born in Wales and eventually moved to London, where she studied Drama and English Literature at university. She became interested in acting after taking a role in a class production of Richard III, and since then, she’s appeared in several TV shows and films. Over the years, she’s developed a reputation for being a talented and versatile actress, and she’s certainly made the most of it.

A Flawless Portrait

While most people our age may remember Mia and Robert for their celebrity status, they’ve remained relevant for their fans more than a decade after their relationship was made public. In 2019 alone, Mia starred in three feature films: Beautiful Boy, Honeymoon, and Killing Eve. All three films were blockbusters, and audiences gave her outstanding reviews. Some even said that her performance in Killing Eve was among the best of all time. She’s also the voice of Lara Croft in the highly anticipated (and forthcoming) video game, Crystal Defenders.

Mia’s filmography isn’t just limited to big budget blockbusters. She has also starred in several independent movies, including Cerebral Balling, The Souvenir, and the BAFTA-nominated, Perrier’s Edge. In addition to acting, Mia is also a musician and songwriter. She began her career as a singer-songwriter and released two independent albums: 2005’s A Day Without You and 2015’s I’m Not Dead Yet. Both albums were critically acclaimed and featured guest appearances from Jarvis Cocker, Brian Eno, and Michael Stipe, among others.

A Renaissance Woman

While we’re happy to see Mia continue to be relevant to audiences more than a decade after her relationship with Robert was made public, it’s not often that we get a chance to look back at how far she’s come. It would be easy for a glamorous Hollywood star to become complacent, but Mia hasn’t, and she’s continued to push herself to improve as an actress, producer, and entrepreneur. In 2019 alone, she produced and starred in three films and released two albums. Plus, she wrote a bestselling book, co-produced a documentary, and launched a production company.

Mia’s production company, Mia Wasikowska Films, focuses on making documentaries, including The Mask You Live in, which explores the portrayal of mental illness in film. In addition to documentaries, Mia’s production company has produced several short films, including Skeletons, which investigates the impact of social media on our mental health; When the Crowds Are Gone, a love letter to Los Angeles, and The Final Year — Diary of a Political Exile, an intimate portrait of an activist and refugee.

Her Own Special Way

If there’s one thing we know about Mia, it’s that she’s not going to follow the traditional Hollywood route. She’s always been independent, talented, and driven, and she’s continued to make her own path in Hollywood. In 2020, she’ll star alongside Tom Hanks in the comedy The Manchurian Candidate, based on the 1963 novel by Richard Matheson. She’ll then be seen in the thriller, The Night Battles, which is set for UK release in June.

The Woman behind the Man

It’s been said that behind every great man is a great woman. While we don’t usually get the opportunity to see it, it’s clear that Mia is deserving of the great man label, and along with her phenomenal acting, we can see that she’s made the most of her time in Hollywood. In 2020 alone, she’ll appear in two more movies, including The Night Battles, in which she stars alongside Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman. In addition, she has several projects lined up for 2021, including the thriller, The King in Love, and the sci-fi romance, The Infinite Sea, in which she’ll star opposite Alex Pettyfer and Jack O’Connell. We can’t wait to see what Mia Has to Offer in the coming years.
