While we’re all still buzzing about the amazing Twilight Saga and can’t get enough of our O Positive vamps, it’s high time for fans of the saga to move on to the next big thing. The hype around the highly anticipated Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is just too big to handle, so let’s dive in and experience some of the most memorable moments of the most magical and beloved vampire series ever!
Breaking Dawn: Part 1
All of a sudden, the fans went from zero to sixty when it came to the Breaking Dawn premiere. Even those who weren’t huge fans of the Twilight Saga series went crazy for the first movie in the series; it was the culmination of everything they loved about the previous four films. The hype was so big that it even infiltrated the geek community. For example, the folks behind the popular web series, Comic Book Therapy, put a spin on the premiere by recreating famous movie scenes with their favorite characters from the Twilight Saga. The results are hilarious.
Ozymandias Kingdom
It’s said that we’ll never know how many people saw the first installment of the Twilight Saga, because it was released on such a huge scale. The first movie managed to capture the imagination of audiences worldwide, resulting in nearly 7 million copies being sold. It would later go on to become one of the best-selling films of all time. This was especially impressive considering the movie was released only a few months after the phenomenal Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1. But even before the end of June 2010, Summit Entertainment had already renewed the Twilight Saga for a new trilogy, and fans had already begun to petition for a fourth film. All of this buzz resulted in Ozymandias Kingdom being one of the most memorable moments of the Twilight Saga. When the king of Oz meets his end and the kingdom turns to dust in the final scene, it’s clear that this was a cathartic ending for all concerned.
New Moon Rising
The Twilight Saga: New Moon was released almost a year to the day after the first movie, and it didn’t disappoint. Despite being marketed as a standalone sequel to Twilight, it actually picks up right where the previous film left off. Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is now a fully fledged vampire, while Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) is forced to accept her new “style” and her need for blood. The relationship between these two is what makes the film, as well as the entire Twilight Saga, so relatable. It’s easy for viewers to identify with Bella, and it’s no wonder why the film was such a huge hit with audiences. In fact, it’s the most successful installment of the Twilight Saga to date, having grossed over $650 million worldwide.
Wicked Witch Of Oz
Bella Swan’s (Kristen Stewart) quest for independence is one of the major themes of the Twilight Saga, and it’s carried over to the third film, The Twilight Saga: Wicked Witch of Oz. In this installment, we learn that Bella’s mother, Esme (Mila Kunis), is the enchantress who cast the dark spell on Bella. It’s this same enchantment that forces Bella to give up her independence and turn to her mother for help whenever she needs it. Even though Bella is doing this to protect her human life, it’s still very much against her will. The symbolism in this film is extremely powerful, and it speaks to the conflict that many teenage girls face between wanting to be independent and doing what’s necessary for life. This is one of the reasons why Wicked Witch of Oz was such a big deal. Having that type of iconic representation for young women is a significant step forward, even if it’s a small one. The movie was a surprise hit, grossing over $500 million worldwide, and continuing the success of the saga.
Breaking Dawn: Part 2
Even though the Twilight Saga is coming to a close with its latest installment, Breaking Dawn – Part 2, it won’t be doing so for long. While many might be sad that the saga is drawing to a close, the fans can finally rest easy, knowing that there will be more movies. And, hopefully, more epic vampire battles.
Summit Entertainment has promised that there will be at least four more movies, which would literally make up half of the Twilight Saga. This brings us to our next major moment, which, in all likelihood, will be the last we see of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson as Bella and Edward Cullen.
It was only a matter of time before their on-screen chemistry sparked off a romance that fans couldn’t get enough of. The rumors of the couple’s off-screen romance were rampant, and, finally, in 2015, it was confirmed that they were indeed an item. The timing of this news couldn’t have been any better, as it came the same week that Twilight was being celebrated as the greatest film franchise of all time. Once the dust settles, it’ll be time for Bella and Edward to move on with their lives, and it’s definitely going to be sweeter because it’s been such a long time coming. Even though the couple’s journey from the very first film was filled with heartache and pain, they’ve still managed to find happiness. Now that their story is coming to a close, we can only hope that it was worth it.
