The most-watched movie of all time, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, finally arrives in theaters today! Inspired by his new found fame, actor and singer Robert Pattinson has released a statement about his new movie and the upcoming Season 2 of his hit TV show, The Walking Dead. Here’s what he had to say.

Eclipse Trailer Reveals All

The new Twilight movie opens today in theaters across the country. The first trailer hit YouTube yesterday and it’s already amassed nearly 23 million views. The footage reveals that the movie is very story-centric and doesn’t waste any time getting to the point. As a preview of what’s to come in the film, the trailer opens with a shot of Edward Cullen (Pattinson) as he stares intensely into the camera. He seems to be giving a monologue as he narrates what’s to come in the movie. Next, we see Bella (Kristen Stewart) waking up in the morning, getting ready for school, and heading off to work. As she looks in the mirror, we see her reflection gradually turn into that of an aged Edward. This shot is followed by a shot of Bella walking away from a group of older kids, including Jacob (Taylor Lautner), as they mock her. It’s clear that her ‘ordinary’ life has led her to this point and she seems to be accepting her fate.

Other prominent faces in the movie include: Taylor Lautner as Jacob, Leonardo DiCaprio as an older Edward, and Barbara Hershey as Alice. The movie also stars Michelle Trachtenburger, Robert John Burke, and Julie Condell.

New ‘Twilight’ TV Show Features Dead People

While the first season of The Walking Dead focused on the zombie apocalypse, the second season will be centered around vampires! When asked about the upcoming season, showrunner Greg Nicotero said “People are going to die. The question is: Are you going to be among the people who are going to die or are you going to try to save them?” The Walking Dead Season 2 premieres this October.

In the meantime, viewers can catch up on Season 1 of The Walking Dead by streaming it on Netflix. The series was recently renewed for a third season, which will once again be set in its own universe and feature a standalone story that won’t be connected to the movies. The showrunner for Season 3, writer David Alpert, teased the renewal in a recent interview. “We knew from the beginning that there would be an after-show, and we’ve always sort of envisioned it as a real series. […] We always envisioned the show being on for several seasons, potentially.”

Release Date For New ‘Twilight’ Movie Is October 18th

While fans are excited to see the return of the cast and crew of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, they should know that the movie won’t hit theaters for another five months! The film was pushed back from its initial August 2014 release due to budgetary concerns and scheduling conflicts. However, the cast and crew were able to put the finishing touches on the movie and it’s being hailed as one of the best of the series. The film will now hit theaters on October 18th, a week before the Season 2 premiere of The Walking Dead.

Director Bill Condon said in a statement that the movie is “absolutely perfect” and goes “without ever being dull or unfair.” He also added that he thinks it will “resemble a classic Twilight movie in many ways, both visually and thematically.” Condon is known for having directed a variety of hit films including Gods and Gentlemen (2008), Chicago (2006), and Beauty and the Beast (2017).

Eclipse is described by Variety as a “love letter to Twilight” and that’s a very fitting description. The film is the culmination of a few years of development hell that the third installment in the Twilight Saga has seen. It was originally meant to be released back in 2014 but was later pushed back to October 18th, 2017, due to the busy schedules of its stars, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. What is said to be “almost entirely shot on location in Chicago” offers a glimpse of the gorgeous and bustling city. The film’s director, Bill Condon, who also co-wrote the script with Peter Chiarelli, has described it as “twilight on steroids” in an interview with Variety. Condon, who also directed the first two Twilight movies, spoke about Eclipse’s “more ambitious scope” and how it differs from the first two installments. He said “This is the most cinematic Twilight yet, and it’s got a bigger scope, bigger emotions, and more action than the first two films combined.”

Condon also praised the performances of the cast in the film, which includes a number of Academy Award nominees. He called Stewart’s performance “stylistic and brilliant” and added “[Bella’s] got an incredible journey, and Robert Pattinson’s performance is stunning.”

Stewart On Why She Chose To Appear In ‘Eclipse’

Kristen Stewart has appeared in a variety of films and is known for her acting debut in the 2001 drama, Fog. However, it was her performance in the 2010 romantic comedy, The Runaways, that truly established her as an actress to be reckoned with. Since then, she’s appeared in a variety of critically-acclaimed films, most recently, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 and the upcoming Charlie’s Angels: The Final Season. She is also the face of a variety of fashion designer and cosmetic products. As you would expect, she was very selective about which parts of her life to document onscreen and she talked about the decision to appear in Eclipse in a recent interview with E! News. Here’s what she said:

“I think that when Robert came to me with the script, it just felt like the right moment to do it. […] It’s a bit of a self-reflective story, and I feel like it’s an important story to tell. I feel very lucky that he saw something in me that was interesting to explore.”

Stewart added that playing the slightly older Bella is something she has always wanted to do and that it was an “honor to be given this opportunity.” She also talked about how much she enjoys working with director Bill Condon. She said “I feel like we have the same sense of humor, so it’s such a joy to work with someone you can joke around with.”

Stewart will next appear in the horror movie, The Grudge, which is scheduled to be released on October 25th, 2018. She’s also set to star in the upcoming romantic comedy, Gameface, which is scheduled to be released in December of 2019. As for Eclipse, Stewart called it a “genuine labor of love,” which is certainly an apt description. She said “I feel like that was our movie. […] We just poured our hearts and souls into it, and I feel very lucky that people seemed to like it.”

Pattinson On Why He Played Edward Cullen In ‘Eclipse’

With all the talk of Eclipse’s larger-than-life scale, it’s important to remember that it’s still a horror movie. It’s the tale of an ailing Edward Cullen played by Robert Pattinson, who must battle for his life against a legion of undead monsters. In an interview with Screen Daily, Pattinson spoke about what drew him to the role and whether he sees himself in the character:
