It’s been a tough 18 months for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, but the couple’s commitment to staying true to one another has surely paid off. On Saturday, October 13, the gorgeous couple tied the knot in a small, private ceremony at London’s Little Church Around the Corner, with only close family and friends in attendance. After the ceremony, Stewart and Pattinson headed to Freemasons’ Hall in nearby London for their reception, which was themed “Honeymoon ⛰” and featured an open bar, canapés, and a five-course meal.

While most people would consider their wedding day to be the event of the year, for the couple it was just a small part of a gruelling schedule packed with romantic getaways and luxurious celebrations.

The Pre-Wedding Blues

The trailer for the upcoming film Twilight (aka Breaking Dawn – Part 2) reveals a very unromantic sequence, with the couple passionately making love on a plush grand piano in the middle of a Parisian cafe. The scene is highly suggestive of the difficulties the couple will face in the months leading up to their wedding day. In August 2012, Pattinson announced that he and Stewart were expecting their first child together, which they eventually named Edyn. The couple’s first child was born in March 2013 and was welcomed into the world with great pomp and ceremony in a stunning London ceremony.

But while the pre-wedding period will undoubtedly be a joyful (albeit, emotional) time for the couple, it should also be noted that there is often fierce competition among celebrities and their entourages when it comes to wedding planning. It seems that no event is safe from the glare of the media spotlight, and it would be foolish to assume that the media attention surrounding the pair’s wedding (and, indeed, the birth of their child) would not extend to their big day itself.

The Wedding Party

One of the most glamorous weddings of the year will be Bella’s sister Kat’s wedding this October. The ceremony will take place in a marquee in the garden of the bride’s parents’ home in Hampshire, and will be a spectacular example of pure British elegance. It’s fair to say that there will be a lot of twitching among the Bella-swooning masses. As well as featuring some extraordinary dress designs, the guest list for Kat’s wedding will be notable for the inclusion of many A-list celebrities. From Gwyneth Paltrow to Alexa Chung, it’s safe to assume that the bride’s family’s marquee will be packed on the night of the big day.

“It’s a dream come true,” Kat said in an interview. “I’m so happy and overwhelmed.”

Another dream wedding for many couples will be Emily’s autumnal celebration on Friday, October 19. The bride, who tied the knot with actor Tim Sebastian in June 2013 (and was recently seen making a splash on the big screen with her critically-acclaimed performance in The Guest), will walk down the aisle in a classic cream-coloured dress hand-meached by a skilled corset-maker. The guest list for this wedding will also include a number of high-profile Hollywood figures. The venue is another of Tim Sebastian’s many stylish London homes, and the wedding breakfast will be served in his grand Westminster Hall.

The Honeymoon

It seems that the honeymoon is going to be very special for the newlyweds. According to E! News, Kristen will be taking Robert on a glamorous vacation first to Italy and then to Portugal, where they will visit her family and explore the beautiful country she grew up in. However, before the couple’s trip abroad, they will stay in London, where they will hold their babymoon with close family and friends. It’s fair to say that these are going to be some of the most memorable weeks of Robert’s and Kristen’s lives.

It’s likely that these will be some of the most glamorous weddings of the year. But beyond the glamour and glory, what should be celebrated is the commitment that the couple has shown to one another throughout their relationship. By committing to love only each other in the face of all the pressure and distraction that modern life can throw at them, it seems that they have found a way to navigate through the challenges that fame and fortune can bring.
