There is no question that the Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson whirlwind romance began in the most unusual of places: social media. On the evening of October 19, 2012, the “Twilight” star tweeted about her excitement at being nominated for Best Female Performance at the Teen Choice Awards. Within hours, she had accumulated over 16 million followers. After winning the honor at the Teen Choice Awards, Stewart continued to garner praise for her acting performance in the thriller “Snow White and the Huntsman.” As a result of her growing popularity, it was announced that Stewart would play a prominent role in the forthcoming film adaptation of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” alongside Russell Crow and Margot Robbie. She also landed the lead role of Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games,” which will be released on March 20, 2014.

Robert Pattinson’s Rising Star Status On the Rise

While Stewart was establishing herself as a major force in Hollywood, the “Twilight” hunk Robert Pattinson was putting in the necessary elbow grease to make it in the industry. After years of starring in inferior-quality films, he decided to change tactics and launched a publicity blitz in late 2012. In addition to releasing a memoir about his time on the series and starring in a new film this year, “Walking Past Gucci,” Pattinson landed a prominent role in the comedy “Get Him to the Greek” alongside Kate Hudson and Salma Hayek, and is set to star in the romantic comedy “Bad Jew” with Al Pacino and Michael Caine. He also has a role in the upcoming “Star Wars” film as the adult Han Solo and will be seen in the comedy “What About Bob?” with Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate and Steve Carell. Pattinson seems to consistently get the roles that other actors wish they could play (and in some cases, are playing).

A Special Relationship Between Parent and Child

While many celebrity couples struggle with keeping their personal lives private, the opposite seems true for the Stewart and Pattinson clan. In a move that suggests her celebrity has not gone to her head, Stewart regularly shares family photos and videos with her nearly half a million Twitter followers. She also opened up about her son’s recent birthday party in a heartwarming Instagram post, sharing video snippets of his “adorable” celebrations with family and friends. In another post, she bemoaned how quickly the years went by and shared a tender moment with her father during her son’s birthday party.

As for the parents of this year’s Teen Choice Award winner, they have been nothing short of wonderful to their only child. In fact, Stewart credited the couple for inspiring her to become an actress in the first place. In an interview with “Good Morning America,” Stewart credited her parents with introducing her to a world that she feels she has always belonged to: the world of theater and movies. “I remember when I was three years old, my parents took me to see a Broadway play, and that was such a magical moment for me,” Stewart said, adding that she would “never forget that,” regardless of her successes in the acting world. “Every time I succeed at something, I think of my parents and what they’ve given me.”
