The couple has been long-rumoured to be engaged. And, as it turns out, the rumours were true! On Thursday, October 19, the ‘Twilight’ and ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ actress confirmed the engagement during an appearance on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’.
“We’ve been talking for a really long time,” she said. “Ever since we were little girls, actually. So it’s old news. It’s been a couple of years in the making. We’re so happy to share this news with everybody. It’s something that we’ve been looking forward to all this time.”
While the couple had previously been open about their romance, Stewart previously stated that they weren’t ready to share the news just yet. The 27-year-old actress revealed in July 2014 that she had been in a relationship with “one of the most amazing men in the world” for a while and that they were “just taking some time off before [they] jump into [their] professional life.”
Now that the couple is engaged, it’s fair to assume that their schedules will be a bit more aligned. Stewart will have more time to dedicate to her professional life and less time to focus on her personal life. And what a professional life it will be! Stewart is represented by the powerhouse agency, WME. And, after almost a decade of working with the agency, it would be fair to assume that she is more equipped than most to navigate the complex world of Hollywood. She has not only starred in blockbusters such as ‘Twilight’ and ‘The Twilight Saga’ but has also been featured in numerous critically-acclaimed films. This includes the widely-praised ‘Camp’ and ‘Clouds of Sils Maria.’
Her resume is long and distinguished, and it’s safe to assume that, had she not gotten engaged to Pattinson, she would have continued to star in prestigious films. Having said that, it’s clear that the 27-year-old actor is the main attraction. Not only is he a sex symbol and Hollywood’s youngest A-list star but he is also the co-founder of the production company, Rabbit Hole, with producer-girlfriend, Chloë Sevigny. Rabbit Hole has produced several award-winning films and, according to Variety, are looking to sign on some big names for their next movie. In an interview with the publication, Pattinson revealed that they are “in post-production on our first movie, which stars Anna Kendrick and will be released in the summer of 2017.”
The pair already have a baby girl, Apple, who was born in September 2016. And the media is already abuzz with news of the precious cargo’s first pictures. A source told People that Stewart is “completely enamored” with her daughter and that they “have a genuinely wonderful relationship.”
Many fans will no doubt be over the moon that Stewart and Pattinson are finally making their way down the aisle. But, given their relatively brief history together, it would be wise for fans to temper their excitement. After all, this is literally the second time around for the on-screen pair. There is already one question mark over this engagement. And it has nothing to do with their pending nuptials: What happened to Stewart’s previous engagement to Twilight co-star, Robert Pattinson?
The ‘Twilight’ actress first got entangled with the ‘On the Road’ actor in 2010 when she was just eighteen years old. The couple eventually wed in 2014 and their engagement was seen as a coup for Stewart, who had been pursuing a solo career. But, as we’ve learned from past experience, these things can quickly go wrong. On their wedding day, the actress wore a custom-made Alexander McQueen dress that was reportedly designed to accentuate her curves. Since the wedding, Stewart has been linked to a number of high-profile suitors, including Joaquin Phoenix and Tom Hiddleston. But nothing has come of it and Stewart is yet to publicly comment on her status as a single mommy. There are also reports that the actress is seeking to rekindle her romance with Phoenix. Even though these reports are relatively old, the nature of this industry means that there will always be another exciting headline about Stewart.
Pattinson, for his part, had previously been married to bandmates Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. He had also dated long-term partner, Rosamund Pike for several years before she died in 2015. The 47-year-old actor has been open about the fact that he is a father and has spoken publicly about the effect his children have had on his life. “I try to be the best father I can be,” he said in 2015. “I want them to be proud of me. I want them to grow up feeling safe and loved.”
And, while all these past relationships may offer some insight into Stewart and Pattinson’s marriage, it’s clear that this time around they are determined to do things differently. “[We want] to work at keeping our relationship private,” said Stewart. “We don’t really want to deal with all that right now. We’re just really happy to share this news with everybody.”
